THESTART IS THE BEST BAND OUT THERE AND I LOVE THEM CAN'T WAIT TO SEE THEM AT THE SHOWS

the folley of modern technology. I am not a cell phone user. nor do i own any sort of paging device. the last thing i need is some kind of odd satellite linked contraption that buzzes and vibrates and beeps at me to carry around wherever i go. my friends all pack them though, and through these little machines, miracles are occurring...my friend ryan got a call last christmas eve from a senile old woman who kept asking for 'ricki', her son. ryan told her she had the wrong number, but the old bag insisted on him having ricki call her back. so ryan, on a whim, switched the first two digits of his number, dialed, and found the illustrious ricki's answering machine. without leaving his name or anything of the sort, ryan left a message simply stating 'ricki. call your mother, man its christmas.'...since that day, 'ricki's mom', as she has come to be known, calls on a weekly basis, most of the time during the day while class is in session. everybody knows by now, and even the teachers excuse ryan, so that he can go call ricki and tell him to call his mom. even though cell phones are considered on the same level as drugs in the school administration's eyes, even they have taken to forwarding the occasional calls from ricki's mom for ryan. to this day, ricki, nor his own mother, have any idea what their absence from eachother is causing in a small town high school in the middle of bumfuck.

oh my god alex!! that's horrible!! You know what's weird? I just had a dream about theStart show at HOB even though I didn't go. In my dream everyone was booing them and giving rude comments and I was the only person cheering them on and clapping...then after the show they thanked me and gave me picks...pretty cool dream huh?

Yes!! I can't wait to go to the chain reaction to see theSTART!! I used to live near that place so I always went there....plus the show is on my spring break so yippee!! Can't wait to meet some of you herectics!

Oh yeah, the HOB was real cool and took my camera. I love those ex-prisoner guards. So, I will have shots from Chain and the Whisky when I go to those. Sorry, again.

God damn! That was the best START show I have seen! Only one horrible thing: NO CROWD LOVE WHATSOEVER! There were like, 8 heretics, and we were the only ones giving love. I could not even believe how awesome they sounded, and the crowd was just SHIT! Like, I am talking minimal clapping, and no cheering. Rude comments, etc. were present. It made me feel horrible. But on to a better note: they sounded so AMAZING, guys. That is one thing I will give the HOB is their sound quality. So good! And they played a song that I haven't heard in a while (if ever). I would like to know the title to it. Oh yeah, nice lil additions to the drums, Scott. Great show, guys. -Alex

do you like depeche mode? would you like to help theSTART gain more exposure? depeche mode are launching a tour to support their new album "exciter" and theSTART would absolutely love to have the opening slot. for those of you who attended the dm "singles" tour then you know that stabbing westward was the opening band. in fact, a couple members from stabbing westward had the honor of being dm's back up musicians for the tour. if you'd like theSTART as the opening band this year then please send an e mail to srpukealot@aol.com OR hypnaughtika@yahoo.com AND please put "exciter" in the subject line.
thanks.

woohoo! no school! i swear, it's fucking extortion. if you dont pay those bastards 10 dollars every year, you dont get to graduate. excuse me? i thought it was a PUBLIC school, for christs sake! Last year, i didn't pay my 10 bucks, so they gave me two bags of candy to sell. I ate most of it and gave the rest away, so then they started telling me owed something like 30 bucks for the candy alone. now, a year later, my due cash is up to about $75. all with having not done a DAMN thing. and theyre saying i cant graduate. this time next year i'll probably owe the chool something like 200 bucks. i swear im calling my fucking superintendant tonight. "Um...hello?"..."Is this the superintendant?"..."uh...yeah, but it's 3 in the morning"..."I just want to know why the hell is it i have to pay for a supposedly goverment funded school, and why is it that if i don't, i cant graduate, and all of my transcripts will be withheld?"..."who is this!?!"

I went to the Troubadour the other night to see The Start and guess who I saw?Tarrie B of My Ruin and Jessicka who used to be in Jack Off Jill!!!!! I could not believe my eyes. Seeing them together was the highlight of my night because they let me take about a million pictures with them and they let all my friends do the same. I still smell of Angel from Tarrie all over my jacket. They were so sweet and nice. How come Aimee and The Start crew are never at any Ruin shows? It would be so cool to see them play together again(wishful thinking I guess).I was so excited about seeing The Start but there were just too many technical problems and it sort of just ruined the vibe and show for me.Maybe next time?Anyway I will be there again and hopefully they will play more than 4 songs.I asked Miss B if she would get Aimee and we could take a photo of all three of them but she seemed wierd about that so I hope there wasn't a problem or whatever? When we asked her what she thought of the show she said that Bluebird rocked(but we missed them ). I asked her if liked The Start and she said that she has always enjoyed watching Aimee but she wasn't really into the music or band. My friend said that she told him she came to specifically see the guys in At The Drive In but I didn't understand that because they were not playing were they? Did they? Well can't wait for the next show...fix your gear so we can shakedown!

TheStart was amazing as always. Pinky (aka the thief).....THE CHEESE JOKE IS MINE!!!!!!! HA ha oh and by the way, I was definitely NOT singing happy birthday *to eliza, linds, i remembered her name* because my voice probably would have just caused more technical difficulties, heh. It was great seeing Jessicka and Tairrie there...hopefully Pinky's pics turns out!!! Great show Aimee, Scott, Jaime, and Jeff! You guys rocked!

Yes, joke time was the best. What do you call cheese that isn't yours? NACHO cheese. lol. Even though that was Amanda's joke. I had so much fun at that show it's not even funny. I was baptized by Jessicka and Tairrie with their ever so sweetly smelling perfume. I enjoyed singing happy birthday with Sara and Amanda to...um...I forget who we were singing to. But it was still fun. And Jeff's new hair cut is cute. Interesting, but cute. THE BAND WITH THE BEST HAIR AWARD GOES TO *drumroll* theSTART! Aw. The best night ever. Yum yum.

a very good synopsis of a very good show. it was taped by several video cameras so there's a pretty good chance somebody will have it up somewhere. was that vague enough? the really cool thing is that there were enough pictures taken of everyone that we can some day assemble a book chronicalling the ever-changing hair styles of theSTART's members. it could be called shears and bleach, a collection of STARTling hair do's or something to that effect. kinda like mapplethorpe ... only more musical.
~sir puke~ <srpukealot@aol.com>

I went to the Galaxy. theStart performed aweseome!! But the person controling the sound did a piss pour job. Set list went something like this: 1.Glimmer Man, 2.Communion, 3.Gorgeous, 4.Nemesis, 5.Melt???, 6.Veil, 7.Hang on Me, 8.Her song(skipped), 9.Shakedown. They went on at 8:45-9:15. Jamie wore a striped white and red shirt fitting pants of course and sneakers. While playing an E-string came loose on his guitar. Amiee wore a black wife beater and army shorts with a black i think studded belt and her black shoes. Jeff sporting a new hair cut. Scott i think dressed all in black. After the show they were all walking around and i got all their signitures except Jamies. There all so nice! I can't wait for the troub where the sounds awesome!!! and the location much closer. you all are going to be there right!!!!! at theStart?

i have gay friends who use the word "fag" quite frequently. also, the word "gay" itself has somehow become synonymous with the term "lame" and all my gay friends use that termanology as well. sorta like the useage of the word "nigga" by some blacks. someone could call me a wop or a mc and it wouldn't bother me at all. i would have a good laugh, though.

Okay i will say this to express something in response to dean's earlier comment. I feel that i need to say sorry for people calling you "fag". But i must first admit that i have been known to call gay people "faggots" or "dykes". I know what every one will say, but remeber who of you is blameless? We have all done it about some one or something. Put them down to make ourselves feel big or fit in. Why because we are weak. All of us. Not just bigots -everyone.
But we are learning. Things i can not understand scare me.
Im worry about things i can't understand as it makes me insecure. I will never understand what its like to be gay or how it feels to be like you. This is a new age for society, may be you have adapted but give it time and don't give in... One by one we are learning to adapt. But life we all ways be difficult. Thats they way life is. I face prejudice every day just like everyone does. But maybe one day this will change but for now..sorry

it takes balls of steel to let that fly, my friends. dean and jen, that is an amazing quality the two of you have; in the face of adversity, sometimes that twisted adversity can make you feel bent about yourself...where i live, in rural central texas, homophobia has surpassed racism over the years to a frightening degree. that's probably because out of the 1033 people in this town, the 3 minorities which live here are of less concern to the 'phobes than the idea that anyone of us...even their OWN children...could be...one of THEM! you should hear some of the church services out here. truly fucking bent. as my esteemed colleague in debate stated---these people just have no grip on themselves, to be so intimidated by...OTHER PEOPLE!!! Well, I lived in Essex, and still do technically, being at Uni and all, and anything deviating from the norm there gets pretty much abandoned. I always found it spurred me on to be a much better person, coz I ended up really not caring what those people thought, and doing what I thought I wanted to do. Got me here, not that here's much of a happier place to be, but still.

I figure it this way on sexuallity.... Who ever you fall in love with, you fall in love with. As long as you are happy, then their shouldn't be a problem and people should respect you for that. Cause it is hard to find love and well if you find it, then go for it. Thats my mind on the subject, late.

anybody who would descriminate against someone because of their sexuality must not have a very firm grip on their own. and, aside from those of us who are either gay or non judgmental on the subject of sexuality, nobody really does have a firm grip on that at all. that saying "it takes one to know one" has much truth to it.

i totally agree with den....some people are scared of what others might say...when in reality one must be worried over ones personal opinion...to not harm someone....or yourself....

I personally think it's fantastic that everyone on this board is so open and willing to accept what other people have to say. Sorry if that makes me sound pathetic...in fact, no, I don't apologise for it at all. It fucking rules!
Dean, I can't say i've ever been discriminated against to any real extent, being as I am A straight White Male (How dull), but I do feel embarrassed sometimes. It seems the straight guys I know who are like that seem to give the rest of us a bad reputation. Does it sound wrong if I say that sometimes I would prefer it if I was black or gay or female or from a foreign country, because there's always a real sense of support and pride. People are proud of that aspect of themselves. I have nothing to be proud of, and I sometimes seem to get lumped in with the rest.
Sorry, it's been 36 hours with out sleep, and i've another14 or so to go. Argh. Can't think straight.

just to make conversation...anyone in here like dashboard confessional? im real hyped up cause im going to see him this saturday with The anniversary. but yeah..im gonna ramble now, take no notice. I hate people, well not all of them, there are quite alot of them i LOVE dearly. I just dont understand why someone being gay makes them a bad person. It really pisses me off that I have to defens who I am most of the time, or not even defend, sometimes i feel i have to deny who i am. Because, well since im gay im a FAG(sarcasm) stupid bigot people, just gets to me alot. I find it even more hilarious that these guys in our school give themselves so much credit, they think if a guy is gay he's gonna automatically hit on them. haha...And its even better when i sit and talk to some of these bigots and they talk about "stupid fags" and how theyre gonna beat their asses. When in reality, id be tyhe one beating their ass. I say we all rally, gays and straight people, we should all go STRAIGHT BASHING! I mean i think it would be funny to hear o9f something on the news about straight men being discrimnates against. Anyone ever seen Cecil B. Demented? Bronagh: Yeah I know what you mean about jokes like that, I get it from my flatmates all the time. At least they are actually taking my points seriuosly now that it's all in the news. Hi Graham!!!
Just thinking about what you were saying about not criticising people over eating meat. Neither do I, but everytime somebody (who eats meat) finds out I'm a vegetarian, they start defending themselves and waving burgers (and the like!) in my face, even though I haven't said a thing!
I think deep down people who do that feel guilty about it, which is why they get on the defense so quickly.
As for the foot and mouth thing, I do think it's another sort of sign to stop breeding livestock!

Wow my first post on here :) Just reading the posts below about foot and mouth - I'm a veggie and I thought 'Jen Jen's comment about it being bollox as quite ignorant. I don't criticise people for eating meat, and many of my relatives are farmers, I just think that this crisis has shown how the intensification of farming methods for the big bucks is in the end far more damaging to people and the environment. It's just like the BSE thing all over again, yet this time their ain't a government cover up.
Anyway, on a less political note I'd just like to say "hi" to everyone and pass my time by doing something that isn't coursework... :)

so what is the alternative? showing little or no emotion over the music we love? if we really, truly dont care about what other people think then why should we care if someone is going to be blind enough to view music in such a negative way?
~sir puke~ <srpukealot@aol.com>
-
"This is the reason why they think music is so influential".. No I do not think it was the effect of music. But I was trying to get across that the reason why the media and some people believe that music influences crimes.... Is because they think we are ignorant enough to be effected easy by what people say.. and if we blow up over if a band sucks or not and start shouting obscene comments, then we are proving them right. Yes, I think music effects people somewhat, but bands such as marilyn manson, slipknot, or NWA people do not take their lyrics all that serious cause we see its mainly for show, but people such as KRS-ONE, nirvana, or rancid.. we seem to take more serious since we see that they mean what they say.. so we are influenced by what they say. We see it kind of in a whole new level. I'm not saying the other bands aren't serious about music, but what they don't exactly mean they are going out and killing someone. If someone does get influenced by such things, they need help to begin with. I hope now you understand what I mean. With Respect,

Hmm...the only effect that Slipknot guy had on me was to make me laugh, and feel sorry for Slipknot, I'm pure they're nice guys. I doubt it really got to anyone here, nobody here is that immature to fight with somebody who is obviously pig-ignorant.
I don't believe those school shootings are a result of listening to music, do you? I know I've listened to a lot of different kinds of music, and it's never encouraged me to go insane and start killing people.
Bronagh <bronagh@hellokitty.com>
Dublin, Ireland -
I haven't been to the board in a while.. and thank you Aimee for ending that slipknot rant./// Actually I think it is time to address the issue of how people were acting about just a band.. It is only a band and if you don't like them, don't be shouting it out and saying "fuck everyone!". This is the reason why they think music is so influential and can cause people to do stupid things, such as all the school shootings. Their are many other things to focus on, other than who's bad ass or who isn't. This is theSTARTs' board and I think we should respect it. So, if someone comes up on here again and shouts that a band sucks or anything. Lets just no let it get to us and ignore it. With my upmost Respect,
Charles J. Mounce <human_tecato@yahoo.com>

Fiona - Foot and Mouth doesn't kill the animals at all. It's no worse than the flu is for humans. The only reason they're killing the animals is money. After they recover, they don't produce milk or flesh at the same rate as before, so The farmers kill them. That just shows how bad things have got. No one cares about anything but money any more.

am i the only person who would have kept it and fashioned into a necklace of some sort? it wouldn't go bad for a little while, especially if i kept it in the freezer at night.a friend of mine had a strikingly wonderful notion. when depeche mode launch their tour for their new album "exiter" in june theSTART should open for them. i mean, stabbing westward opened for them last time so why the hell not? the only problem i see is that dm goes to europe when the warped tour dates would be in effect.

i had been a struggling vegetarian until that lady found the head in her mcdonald's. i'd been to a ghetto mcdonald's that day and had only gotten fries, but it was enough of a shock to keep me from eating any form of meat ever since. it's probably easy for people to eat something totally unidentifiable, but to quote elastica, 'it's hard to make a stew when the meat keeps looking up at you.'

True, very true. But can you imagine her shock when she saw that head in her deep fried McTesticles? It probably has caused her a few sleepless nights. But is that a big enough reason to sue? I hate the way that people Sue if things don't go exactly how they want. It's stupid. If that's the case, I could sue several women for the horrendous crime of "Not Dating Me".Then they could sue me for the horror caused by their guilt over not dating me and so on and so on...The legal proffesion wins every time.
And if she really stopped to think about what goes in her "Chicken" Nuggets, who knows, maybe she would prefer the head.......
Some one else add the innuendo there, I really can't be bothered.....

in west virginia recently, a woman found a fried chicken head in her mcnuggets that she purchased from mcdonalds. the head, which was apparently fully intact and recognizable (eyesockets and all), has led to quite the little tift over in that area. the woman is considering pressing charges against mcdonalds, claiming that she has "had many sleepless nights" since the incident, in which she was reportedly feeding her kids the nuggets when the severed, battered, and golden-fried head made its suprise entrance. a spokesman for the US department of health in west virgina, whom the woman contacted, says that the most she can get out of the case she could file is "a couple of thousand". the woman's attourney claims otherwise, stating that such an event could cause a very intense psychological trauma, which he alleges his client is suffering through. ok, now...if you were a mcdonalds clerk or manager on the day that this incident occured, how would yu respond to such an utterly insane complaint? "uh...yessir, i uh...i have a comment...about the chicken nuggets..." and how would you reacct if you were the presiding judge, under which this pending case may fall? what do you DO in a situation like this? how can any of these people MAINTAIN?! have we removed ourselves THAT far from the food we eat? in some...MOST of the poultry-enthusiastic nations in this crazy world, its not only commonplace to have a head of some kind of bird, fish, or even swine on our plates, but even disrespectful to the host or establishment if that head is spurned and wasted. what, my friends, have we come to?

I know this subject is old, but I just had to get my two cents in.
It seems to be more of America's youth are really angry and most don't know how to express it. So alot of them hear alot of so-called angry music, which explains why alot of bands are doing so good in the mainstream.
But just because a person is a angry doesn't give a right to be a jerk. What ever happened to the days were you could talk with a someone (who had a different view than you) peacefully. Now when ever you get in an debate with one of these angry young people , as soon as you out smart them or say something that they can't response to...they start with the needless cursing and the " I'm going to kick your ass". I think people need to mellow out. I think if people put down their guns and fists and fought back vocally, then America wouldn't be the shit hole that it is now.

aimee, im sorry, im really, really sorry, but y'know? there are kids running around who, quite frankly, dont need to be running around. i just get a little peaved when, in the midst of tranquility, someone pops up and spews forth an unwavering stream of pure bullshit. if this is in person, i always figure i ought to get heavy with the bastards...LEAN on those fuckers...but hey, i guess that makes me a hypocrite, but seriously, who would any of you rather have around. bioengineered acne-instigating bugs are the least of my worries...but the thought of an airborne case of the spaceclap is the kind of thing that wakes me up in the middle of the night, screaming and ranting, half-crazy, and fumbling with a bottle of lysol disinfectant. im feeling very anti-existential right now. very disenchanted with EVERYthing. except my job, of course. i'll always have the video store.

if you can grow an ear on the back of a mouse and then surgically implant it onto an ear loss victim, why cant we grow a set of lungs on the back of a walrus or something and then give me a lung transplant after mine are too coated with resin to function any longer? plus, while in the lab, you could conceivably make stronger lungs through genetic tampering so your next transplant wont be for another 80 years. this is how we will live forever. wait a minute ... strike that. this is how rich people will live forever.

Please excuse some of the people that jump on the board and threaten you, they are just lonely, angry, can't spell, and need a hug. I too would be angry if it took me three hours to write that. (Momma got me a computer and an msn account to learn how to read and write!), but NOOOOO, he's got to rush right in and be the Lord of Hatred? (Well, we all need to be the Lord of something, I guess?.) He will kill you if you talk shit on his favorite band. So here we go. If you knew how to read, you would realize nobody's talking shit on your boys you fucking idiot! And tommarow when you go to school to kill the guy that made fun of your Tazmanian Devil/Bad Boy Club tattoo, don't forget to turn the gun on yourself when you finish!

as for the whole slipknot thing....i liked em, but not nearly as much as i used to,
they just got way too...HUGE, way too fast..People make them out to be alot better than they are..
The bigger reason why i dont like them is because of their fans, Slipknot fans seem
to think theyre ridiculously hardcore.....Well they arent, given that yes, slipknot
can be a bit "violent" it doesnt make you (if youre a fan)scary...im sorry, the whole mask novelty never worked anyway.
And now we have the cheap imitation band that are starting up. And still all you "hardcore",
i hate the world types but into it....Im not seeing where im getting at this, but slipknot aint(hehe) that great.

I hear all this hype about slipknot shows and it just confuses me, You hear the music it a little different, interesting, you see the band they make you laugh, better still, you go to the live show where the pits are meant to be crazy, and stand stock still three rows from the front bored, while at the back there's a wild pit! The hypes ruined the atmosphere, the people who would normally be up the front are at the back and those of us who just like to watch a stage show are at the front!! Role reversal? suits me! i actually got to SEE!!! oh well maybe the slipknot fans are just scared of the band?!

it's ok, lorie...it's oooookkkk...these are the kind of children i mug on occasion at concerts and shit. those bent little junior high fuckers with all the attitude and the slipknot t shirts...i wonder if the band even knows that the mindset they instill in their fans gets the shit beat out of them on a regular basis; im not a violent person, per se, by nature, but some things, some PEOPLE just warrant the baseball bat making a suprise appearance. if this kid wasnt on the internet, do you think he'd respond the same if you walked up to him while he was grooving in hot topic and said, to his acne flushed little face, that slipknot did indeed suck? or do you think he's just appreciating the anonymity of the internet. what if, mr. long, i were to tell you that i too lived in pittsburgh and that i'd like to meet with you and discuss these little death threats youve been tossing around so flagrantly? im sorry, folks, but chumps like this just...GET to me. difficult to MAINTAIN.....HA!

YOU know what? LORD of HATRED....oooohhh....that's sooooooo intimidating...A) slipknot is riding a gimmick, not their music; NOBODY can deny this. if they could lose the goofy outfits and perform one show, just ONE show, or do just ONE magazine cover without that gimmick, i'd say nothing more.
B)9 members? 9 members!?!? ministry, for instance, could kick slipknot's ass with only...get this, lord of hatred, TWO members in the band. TWO MEMBERS. C)the attitude has got to change buddy...slipknot thinks just as much about you as they probably think about everybody else. i've seen that band, for the sake of openers, 3 times. all three times we were commanded by their dipshit lead singer to 'sit the fuck down' and 'shut the fuck up'. goddammit, i paid 30 bucks to come and see YOU play, you twisted goofy fuckers, now why dont YOU sit down if you want. shit. so much frontin', no follow through whatsoever. slipknot's clown accidently headbutts his drum and suddenly their nightly activities are full of blood and gore. i'd have to say, i got more thrills seeing gwar the last time around. if you're going to wear costumes, wear some COOL ones at least, and if you're going to front like youre the most EEEVIL band on earth, gimme something that would lead me to believe that, no gimmicks, please. it's like cockrock all over again...

And we wonder why people like Fred Durst stay where they are. The idiot who posted below liked Limp Bizkit when their first CD came out, but now they suck cause Slipknot say so. That is the reason I no longer care for Slipknot...their moron fans ruin the shows.
Alex Brothman <Medosa@home.com>

many people have remarked on how brainless slipknot's fans seem to be. i think the reason for this is the mask thing. when you're in a band and wear only masks and long sleeve jump suits nobody can see what you look like. this immediately eliminates all those 14-year-old girls who like certain bands mainly because "[the lead singer] is so hot!" or "i have erotic dreams about [the guitarist]." leaving only the male population who would rather look at a mask than some pretty boy, and metal heads. but i've learned to live with it.

there is the most amazing place here out in bumfuck...a little independant grocery store called the IGA. so much drug trafficking goes on in the place that it actually IS funny. at least 10 transactions a night. looking for something of the herbal persuasion? not a problem, friend, just follow that stockboy with the mop back into the deli freezer and he can satiate your craving. acid? ha! just stroll on over to the produce boy and pick your poison. always, always, though, make sure you purchase something of even the cheapest order---the management has no idea that it goes on, and a sudden slew of customers, walking in and out without actually PURCHASING anything would make for some suspicious activity...alcohol? here is where you are rendered utterly shit out of luck. hays county is dry; no booze sold for a 45 minute drive in any direction. maybe this is why the illegal drug market is so accessible in a small town grocery store. its an amazing prospect though: you might as well pick up that 10 sack and a decent strip along with that 6 pack of diet pepsi in order to better enjoy your weekend. i'm on my way to pick up some tomatoes here in a little bit. i suspect i will see you all soon. selah.

I wasn't suggesting that they could not hold there own I just saw a bunch of posts about them playing Ozzfest and thought it a bit lame considering the fact that Aimee herself had stated that she was not really ever into.Metal before and Ozzfest is and should be about bands who are truly INTO Metal. Warped Tour is more perfect for The Start anyway. Yeah what about the song with Jay Gordon? What happened to it?

Well, thank god I have some family on the east coast. I will try go to to some of the Warped Tour dates over there! We should START a lil group who follows the band all over the country for the summer. Now that would be fun.
Alex <Medosa@home.com>
Tustin, CA USA -
now i'm gonna have to travel all over the country to see theSTART play live. oh well, a small price to pay for a truly wonderful experience."georgousgrrrl" ~ it was slightly absurd to suggest that theSTART could be on ozzfest, but not because they aren't metal. it would be very hard to imagine them opening for (as you said) a band like slipknot but, if they can play gigs with bands like orgy and pmm and even their last show with cold (plus all the openers), then they could definitely hold their own with most of the bands on ozzfest. festivals suck, though, and just about everyone in the band knows what it's like to play shitty festivals like ozzfest.

I have just downloaded some of your material and it is fabulous to hear you back Aimee and I can't wait for the new record. My question for everyone including The Start is a while back I read an interview in Metal Hammer where Aimee stated that she was never really in "Metal" and that is why she left HWP to start a band with more of her influences behinh the music. Why then would you even consider being a part of the OZZFEST?This is not an attack or anything I swear it is just something I was wondering. Maybe the band isn't but everyone on the board who is talking about it should really think about the fact that The Start are NOT and may I repeat NOT .. "METAL". They would not really fir on the OZZFEST and I don't think they would go well with bands like "SLIPKNOT" or "MUDVAYNE".Come on people I mean think about it for a minute. The Start would be perfect with a band like "ORGY" although I am not a fan of the new record and they would probably outshine the headliner but that's what I think. Any response?

bloody hell! JUNE i've been told every month when it will be released, i got to february, march, and now june! good god make up your minds! mazza is really good, i'm a huge marilyn manson fan, i went to see him in january and he rocked, this sort of thing always happens on here, someone says they like someones music and everyone else goes off on one, we are allowed our own opinions aren't we? this happened when i said i liked aimee more than tairrie! but back to the point, mazza does rock, and i will be going to the UK ozzfest....so malcolm, you better get a ticket!

kerrang is having a readers' poll to pick the bands for one of the ozzfest stages so there's a chance that theSTART could get voted in.
here comes the defense. mudvayne are very good. i was warry of them at first but i gave their album a listen and i got hooked on it. it is very good, and i'm not one to just say that about any band. it's more than just crunching metal riffs and wails of death performed by a bunch of queers who think they're the next kiss. it has power, excellent lyrics, and "hooks so big if they were used to catch fish they'd be illegal." and slipknot have their own good qualities too. i'll stick by them until i have a good reason not to.
hopefully the next tool album and the next nin album will help right some of the wrongs in popular music today.
~sir puke~
-
i still like marilyn manson's portrait album. i always will. he just...got some money. and some fame. and i think it fucked him up. i dont think people with the same mentality as marilyn manson can handle fame very well. they come down with that very peculiar and very prevalent enlarged cranium disorder, where the actual size of the skull swells to compensate for the inflated ego. fred durst can drive his rolls royce right into a brick wall and do the world a favor, but instead, he'd rather just make more money. how you become the vice president of the label your own band is signed to is completely beyond me.

from the PRP, so don't come cryin to me if this is wack info: theSTART have now mastered and completed their upcoming new album "Shakedown". It was produced by Josh Abraham (Orgy, Crazy Town) and is set to be released in June through The Label/Geffen. The group have also lined up the track "Gorgeous" as the first single to radio and will be shipping a rock and dance remix of the song for adds on March 13th, while the album version itself will go for adds on April 17th. In the meantime, they are preparing to shoot a video for the single with director Gregory Dark (Disturbed) and expect to hit the road in support of the album shortly.

FUCK mudvayne. FUCK slipknot. FUCK papa roach. FUCK linkin park. jesus christ. i am growing weary of these groups; its a hideous, gigantic incest orgy down at the old rock and roll mainstream farm. Ozzfest has soured. Marilyn Manson? now that this ego obsessed barbie doll-on-crack bastard is through dryhumping the david bowie cash cow, it seems as if he couldnt figure out where to go next. so he wrote AntiChrist SuperStar over again. im sorry. manson just...isnt scary anymore. that was his whole gimmick to begin with, and, by the looks of it, with all the big bands caking their faces in makeup and cramming every tired, cliched vulgar idea they can into their songs, manson probably doesnt have that much to say anymore, if anything at all. there are several exceptions, in my opinion, but the majority of it is unit-shifting mall creature ear candy. we need our real rock stars back!

malcolm: in my experience if someone has a mental breakdown goes on antidepressants etc then their relationship breaks down naturally anyway, it can't stay the same (not that anyone would want a relationship like that) because the person with problems becomes more and more withdrawn. for example a friend of mine (who has clinical depression)her boyfriend went in to hospital (psychiatric ward) two days after she told him about her problems (two years ago she tried to kill herself, he was the first person she has ever told) she blamed herself entirely when his problem was completely unrelated he had a psychotic episode due to withdrawal from alcohol and cannabis. He became like a child and as much as she tried to look after him she became like his mother. when he came out of hospital and tried to resume his normal life she resented it because she thought he should be more appreciative of what she had done for him, she was still trying to be his mother and he just wanted to be left alone. about three weks after he came out of hospital they split up and she was left with even greater problems. no matter how much this girl (your friend) says she loves him she probably just needs support right now and is clinging to him for security. your best bet in my opinion which, you can say is bullshit, is to support her as best you can as a friend if and when she splits with this guy shes gonna need this friendship but without strings even if she knows you like her you dont have to do anything. all the best relationships come out of strong friendships anyway. i supported my boyfriend through his break up with his first serious girlfriend we were friends and nothing more, now weve been together for three and a half years and everythings still goin good coz we can trust each other. If you give this girl someone she knows she can trust then you have a much better chance than you would with any of your chat up lines!! too add a different aspect to the whole gender ish if a girl says something is sexist then the 'thing' will be changed pay rises equal opportunities etc. however if a guy says something is sexist hes a laughing stock, sexism has become a one way street and in my opinion it is the guys who get the worst deal. sure the stats say that women are payed less but they have worse jobs and thats not through the mens fault gender isn't an issue when applying for jobs anymore infact a female applicant is more likely to get the job by equal rights laws. If i was applying for a high profile job i would much prefer to get it through credit to what i can achieve than because itll look better if they employ a woman. Men need more rights. As for superiority, women seem to enjoy taking a back seat, they like to watch their men bring home the bacon as they serve his dinner for him at six o clock sharp. then they like to complain about it when they realise how boring and mundane their lives are thats what women do best, moan. and before all you girls start shouting at once ill just point out for the record im female too, and i love whinging just not cooking! now ive waffled enough! love ya peeps!!! alexa

Just make sure your around her alot. In a few days she'll be doped up and on the rebound!
LOL
-
well, if he wants to see other people then they wont be together long. so, unless he plans on cheating and avoiding the break up, that means that she will have a borken heart if she really is in love with him. chances are she's just too confused to know what she's feeling and hopefully the ending of the relationship plus the medication will help make things more clear. if you help her through the rough patch i'm sure she'll appreciate it very much. you just have to make sure you keep a clear head through it and never lose sight of what's most important to you in this situation. you haven't done anything wrong at all.

cheer up malcolm.. as natalie said things will unravel. Everything happens in due time and if it were meant to be it will come to be. As for the whole fued between the sexs'.. Anyways, anyone goin' to the Kotton Mouth King show tonight in Anaheim? If so see ya, late. With Respect.

wow malcom that is quite a situation. I think you should let everything unravel. She is going on anti depressants and in a way that will probably help her with everything. That's the great thing, we DO all get along. No one has made any comments which have caused arguments, just discussion. It's great. Now, I need help. A guy Iknow came to my room last night, stressed out, talking about his girlfriend. Basically, he wants to go out and see other people, and he said he had always told her it was nothing serious. She's about to go on anti depressants (Unrelated), and when I went to see her she looked really down. Now, I have a big thing for this girl, and I told her so. However, despite being really shocked, all she could do was apologise, because she said she was in love with him.
This guy has treated her so badly. It's like he just has sex with her occasionaly, and that's it.

i firmly believe women are the most evil and dangerous creatures on this planet. it's everywhere, even in nature; the praying mantis, that proud, spindly queen actually decapitates and cannabalizes the HEAD of her mate. human females are very capable of committing metaphorical equivalents of that very same degree, while i just dont see many men doing so, in such a premeditated and reflexive fashion. now dont get me wrong, while i do unwaveringly believe that all of you ladies are the collective devil, im a sucker for all of you and every possible facet of your entire gender. please do not eat my head.

the whole gender point isn't necessary anymore....women also dominate a so-called male world....everyone should get the same oppertunity....i shouldn't depend on gender nor ethnicity....unfortunatly at times it does. everyone who belives that this world is still for there own gender to rule is full of it...not only men are being accussed of this so-called sex wars, women also act in the same way....how do we expect to over come all of this...if each time we take a step further back...hopefully all the closed minded people would be able to open up and see all of the delema this is causing...good night people. p.s. ~amanda....thanks a lot.

far be it for me to ask anyone to cook or clean or even care about the needs of another person. some men see women as objects and some see them as servants and some see them as equals. you cannot force anyone to take you seriously and there's no way to know why someone doesn't take you seriously unless they actually tell you. descrimination will always exist and i totally agree that women are treated poorly and looked down on by some men. but we dont have as much power as you think. look at former president clinton. the most powerful man in america and what sends it all crashing down? robert dinero's character in casino is another example. women have the emotional edge and if they are given the power to use it freely then they have more power than any man.
~sir puke~
-
Hmmmm. I don't want to get into a whole Gender debate, but, I think that it's less a generalisation than that. I can't talk about Women, they all seem beautiful to me, but there seems to be a definite divide in Guys. There are the arseholes who treat everyone around them like shit unless they want something, and then there are the nice guys who actually care about things. The women have to be careful around guys because of the morons, but unfortunately this also scrwes up the nice guys. Cest la vie.....

puke: it's not all like that. of course in north america women have earned respect and all the other stuff. but in other countries, look at the women who choose to speak out and are looked down upon, disgraced for it, sometimes even killed because of it. that is the male dominance. and still even in north america, there are men who expect women to cook and clean and cater to their needs. and it is sick. even today a lot of women still aren't taken seriously in lots of things. why is that? because men still feel like they should run everything. not every man is like that and i know that, but it still happens. it's still out there, it just not may be as common as it was in like the '50s. and we don't have to just sit there looking "pretty". there's much more to it than that. like proving we know how to use our brains. like showing we won't take crap like disrespect, and other things. and yes everyone has come along way in the past 100 years. but we've still all got so far to go.
ok i feel as if i have entered a taping of mars venus. i'm outta here. -amanda

hmmm, well i knew that "nothing" wasn't the correct choice of words as soon as i typed it. "practically nothing" would do much better. of course you'll never admit the superiority issue because then the secret would be out and we'd have a war on our hands! women have come a long way, that is true. but we all have come a long way in the past 100 years. women have won their rights but thats only in certain countries. if this was not a traditionally male dominated world then your life would be a lot harder. women get away with 3 times as much as men do most of the time. for instance, if a woman wants to get into a club and she's under age or has no money or whatever they have 75% more of a chance to get through that door if a guy is the bouncer than a guy would in the same predicament. there are women who will do anything to please a man but what the fuck are the chances that the guy is going to deserve it? those kind of women chose the worst possible guys to shower with affection. women "test" more than guys will. like i said, all you have to do is sit there and look pretty and you used the same examples. the only thing you added were mannerisms and the rest were just "looking pretty." how you act is a very small percentage of the battle and women get regected WAY less than any man. the so-called power that men have in this world is only material or political. women hold the rest of the chips.

well of course anything could be considered a pick up line. even a simple "hello".
ok puke. hahaha now this is starting to get like an episode of men are from mars women are from venus. oh man! i won't say that nothing is ever good enough, because at times it is. but men clearly don't understand women, and women clearly don't understand men. women don't always believe that they are superior to men, but come on...how far have women come in the last 100 years? yeah thats right! we deserve some damn credit for everything we've achieved in a male dominated world. but there are still women who will do anything to please a man. even if it means throwing their self respect and all that stuff out the window. and there are women who will walk up to men and initiate the conversation. it DOES happen out there. and of course you're being tested. but can you tell me that women aren't being tested as well? if you don't look a certain way, if you don't act a certain way, if you don't dress a certain way, if you're not a certain body shape, then its the good old REJECTION! it goes both ways. men do it to women and women do it to men! can you honestly tell me that a man, (well there are some men who would) but that most men would pick a 400 pound woman over a 120 pound woman? the odd one might, but out of like a 100 men...it would be like 1:100.
ok i'm done for right now. -amanda

well, it kinda has to work sometime doesn't it? even if it's as simple as "can i buy you a drink?" pretty much anything that you say to a person in an attempt to "pick them up" would be considered a pick up line. of course you've never heard a good one because nothing we do is good enough! women will always believe that they are superior to men. since they know that we wont tolerate a claim such as that, they try to settle for the term "equal" instead of "superior." this is why we have to walk up to them to initiate conversation and not vice versa, because they simply cannot be bothered with such a inferior chore. plus the second we open our mouths we're being tested on everything from our posture to our witts and all they have to do is sit there and look pretty! it doesn't matter how good you might look or how well read you are or how much money you make or even how much you may understand about that girl's feelings, it all comes down to superiority.
~sir puke~
-
wow, my internet is finally being good!
puke: now now, if there was a good pick up line out there and it was spread around...don't you think everyone would be using it...and there would be like no singles left. cheesy, retarded, moronic pick up lines like "nice shoes wanna fuck?" are what make the whole dating scene hilarious. i honestly don't think i've ever heard a good one. i have a friend who likes to use "is that a mirror in your pocket 'cause i can see myself in your pants" but...uh...i think we all know, that's not a *good* one either.
ah i'm off. i'm falling ill just before the orgy show which is later this week. not good...-amanda

The official title of theSTART's debut album is now "SHAKEDOWN!". The title changed as did the track listing after theSTART recorded two new songs and added them to the record. The release date is NOT March 30th. Any information you may have received pertaining to the album titled "CIRCLES" is now incorrect. TheSTART are the first signing to The Firm's new record label-THE LABEL, to be distibuted through Geffen/Interscope. Stay tuned for accurate and official information expected late next week regarding the release date and track listing. On behalf of theSTART I'd like to thank you all for your support and patience.

I'm taking this opportunity (if there's any fans here?) to say that I saw Babes in Toyland on Friday (in a TINY venue) and it was the best gig ever (I've yet to see theSTART!)! I met Lori afterwards, and she gave me a hug and a kissie and signed my ticket. She seemed really pleased and surprised when I told her I started playing drums because of her, I DID admit it was going to sound "disgustingly cheesey", but tis the truth, I tells ya!
