Well, got the whole shipping thing straightened out with Nitro. Aparently they accidently put it on my invoice but didnt actually charge me for it. Gotta give them props for figuring it out so quickly, though :)

Jes(sic)a

definitely, stormi. though the website for the PGMG gig is not working properly, so i can't buy my ticket. bah.
kenickie

nope, just the EP. I emailed Nitro and they said that they'd look into it, so I'm guessing it was a mistake.
Stormi
-
That sucks Stormi! Nitro didn't charge me shipping. You didn't order anything else along with the EP did you?
Jes(sic)a

wow...thats one hell of a line up! If you can time both shows right, that'll be a kick ass night! :)

fuck me, i just found out that tsunami bomb are playing in birmingham on saturday, and so are pretty girls make graves, but in wolverhampton. i think i can time it right to see both bands.

At last! I went up to my band's practice room, where we have a computer thats not a complete P.O.S., and watched the video there.....one word: brilliant. Major props to whoevere came up with the Clockwork Orange referances. SiX- your right, the ending does rock!
Stormi <Stormi826@aol.com>
Dallas, TX -
Im filled with joy, yet sorrow. Got my EP in the mail today which I was nothing bu excited to see. I cant watch the video cuz my computer is too slow to play it even when I have no other programs opened. I just get that choppy, every 10th frame bullshit......and apparantly when they said enhanced DVD, they didnt mean that you can play it on your DVD player, cause Ive tried that too :( And also I'd like to add....FREE shipping my ass! Those nitro fuckers charged me $4.30 in shipping and I ordered my EP on Nov. 17th. What is that about?!
Stormi
-
travis - muse, i seem to remember. it's the december 13th issue. malcolm - yeah, looks like. which is very nice. nitro are pretty good about UK releases. i think a review in the current KERRANG! means it's out monday.

whos on the cover of that kerrange with the DVS review?

hey malcolm - 2 summers ago, i was involved in a 'platonic relationship with a flirty girl' situation, and i nearly wound up in a fistfight over it (NOT with her - with some other dude - i'd never hit a girl), sooo i think this sounds like trouble. but that's just my two cents. actually, probably more like one cent since i'm not you.
brian
cornwall (not the uk one), pa -
Malcolm- by the way youve described your situation it sounds like she just wants to mess around. At least what I'm reading into this, it sounds like shes suggesting you get together, but once you do (assuming you did) she'd change her mind and want to go back to being just friends. I'd say steer clear of getting together with her, you'll only end up hurting yourself.
Stormi <Stormi826@aol.com>
Dallas, TX -
Malcom! i say the ball is in her court now. You've (Hypothetically) asked her already, its her turn. She knows what she wants. But honestly it seems to be more of an ego boost. and im 100% with you on the public forum personal business thing. and am 100% embarrassed about it. although, i think all is well now.
natalie
-
Has DVS got a release in the UK then?
Natalie - sorry, I didn't mean to give advice about something I know nothing about. I just think personal arguments being broadcast in a public space is never good. Hope everythings cool.
Hypothetical question. You ask a girl out, she says no, because she likes you as a friend, doesn't want a serious relationship, just wants guys to mess around with, that kinda thing. You stay friends, and her incessant flirtation with you ends up driving you crazy because you can't deal with it, knowing she's not interested. Then, one evening when you meet for a drink, she says "I'm of all my housemates having boyfriends. Please stay single, otherwise i'll have no one to talk to" quickly followed by "I'm not sure, but I think I might want a boyfriend now". Is she seriously suggesting that you get together? or is it just more flirting to boost her ego?

Metal Malcolm

wow i haven't been here in forever. well shit. for a split second i had no idea what i was going to say but now, due to a circumstance here, i am possessed to tell you all of our neighbor. he's a creepy old korean man who lives all by himself nextdoor; he doesn't speak english and we're pretty darned sure he doesn't even use electricity. there are never ever lights on in any of his various wondows nor is his garage ever opened. he only checks his mailbox for mail reeeaaally late at night. he has no car we've ever seen, and get this- he even mows his front lawn with one of those old timey push-mowers. but thats not even the creepy part, see; his back yard, which we can see only if we stand on a chair and look out a particular window in our kitchen, is like, horrifyingly overgrown. i mean, shit goes chest high on the other side of that fence. we wouldn't mind it so much if he didn't make so much noise feeding the chupacabra he keeps in there or whatever the fuck it takes to do exactly what he's doing right now, what he started doing a minute ago to make me start writing about him---every night he goes outside and stands on his stoop of a back porch and stares into the dense overgrowth, tossing something into it. what, we don't know. out of what, we can't see. but he does it every damn night. then he stands there for a minute staring, then sweeps his stoop and goes back inside. sometimes he throws his chupacabra food so hard that we can hear whatever it is he's throwing hit the fence at the other end of the yard, and the bustle of foliage disrupted by its course there. whatever it is, it's hard and probably chewy. any vocal exchange with this old man seems laughable let alone even eye contact. however, my roommates and i have begun formulating a plan involving the population of his backyard with alligators, very slowly over time, to drive out his goatsucker. they go for real cheap up at the herpeton exotic pet stpre so this seemes like the most feasible plan. he's done now though, he's gone back inside...

It's not BAD per se. It's just a totally straight cover with slightly weaker guitars and a much weaker voice.
Thing is, if I want to hear a Far song, i'll listen to Far, not a bunch of lamecore welsh guys trying to be Far. If they messed it around a little, sped it up, slowed it down, anything at all, it might have been interesting, but it's Identical. So there's no need for it to exist.

Well, I found about ten email addresses that COULD be her, so i'm going to her department tomorrow. There's photo's of all the students on the wall, and If I can get a last name, I can get an email.
I really hope she hasn't dyed her hair since the photo was taken, or i'll be lost.
On a related note, British band Funeral For a Friend have recently covered "The System" by Far. And it's really not very good.
Metal Malcolm

if you wait until the next time that you see her you'll be kicking yourself for not getting in touch before then. you also might have the added joy of your friends constantly asking why you haven't called her yet. sadly, it'll look like you aren't interested even though you really are.for a while i've been suggesting that they do "i'll stick around" by the foo fighters but they rarely follow my orders. buncha poop heads.

i am going to play dear abby. malcolm - the window of time within your being able to track the girl down and email her is very small. if you do it a week later you will look weird. if you do it now, it might not be. only do that if you felt a strong connection with her i guess. you never know, you could wind up married with five babies. she's a radiohead fan; deep down she must be lonely and alienated and looking for love. right? best of luck!

I don't understand you kids some tymes. You rant and rave about supporting those in need or down with the man... yet you see this strike with the market as something of a thorn in your paw. Stop one of these days and ask them why they are on strike and try and understand why they are out there everyday doing this. If you have ever worked in your life or done a shit job for shit money... you'll understand. Honestly, if your really bugged by them... support there cause and go to another non-union market or just walk past them with your nose in the air. I mean, whats the harm in you not caring and just walking past them? I mean.. it's only there life that is being effected... Right? *clears throat and trys to stay in vouge* Damn the man. Oh yea!!! I just sat through two hours on a Michel Jackson BBC thingy. Now that was fun! I kept flipping back and forth from that to this Satanic one hour special. At one point I looked over to my mother and said, "So, Ma. Yes or No. Satan or Mr.Jackson?" "I don't know." "Me at a goth club in L.A. or the Neverland Ranch?" "Did you have dinner?" "Make-up or the Knife?" "I love you for who you are." I love my Mom.

What can I say? As a sociology student and a music fan, I feel I can prove many problems in society are caused by X-tine and her ilk. I feel it would be a great justice to the world. However, not believing in violence as a solution, and being a poor student in nottingham, I realise there is very little I can do about it.
And that's why I feel justified in making incredibly violent suggestions about people who I have never, and will never meet.
Everybody happy? Wonderful. I love it when people come to an agreement :)
(And for the record, I'd like to put a certain part of Simon Cowell into a food processor and then feed it to him.)

home again! last night's show was fuckin rockin'. the crowd really sucked this time though, nobody really dancing except the few of us in the front. Aimee first sang on Jenny's shoulder during "Los Angelos" which was frickin awesome and then came out during "Hi Flyer" into the crowd and danced with us, which was totally unbelievable. it's safe to say that me and Jenny rocked our little hearts out. even though the crowd was really sucky, theSTART were fucking awesome as always. Erick jumped on the barricade at one point and kept playing and the show was just totally nuts since it was one of the last of the tour. Billy came out during Lennon's set and played the goat while Lennon played the fucker? whoah. tortillas were thrown at Lillix and hit the singer in the face! ;) Lennon came out wearing Muffin's Adadas suit during their set, hahah. FACE PLATES during "Shakedown!" okay, that was all really random but it was great. wish I was heading down for that six hour drive in Detroit. have an awesome time, Jenny! report back...

Yea, I remember the Scarling tour, there was maybe 30 people there for the Dallas show...I felt bad for them!! Good show, but still I wish there would have been more people. The Taproot Dallas show was awsome though, everyone seemed to be really digging theSTART. There were some kids moshing and I remember Aimee saying "I see some of you dancing, please dont stop" or something like that. It was cool to see them getting into the music :)
Stormi <Stormi826@aol.com>

Thats really true about the new fans. I remember in 2002 when they were headlining with Scarling in AZ and I remember like exactly 12 people at the show for theSTART. Really? I didnt know that about Clark. Where can I get more info on Dean? I've heard a bit about him, but dont know too much. I think this country need someone who's to the left to clean up all this shit that good ol' Bush has done. I totally agree with you, Anne. We need someone who will stop spending 51% of our tax dollars on military to go kill people of whatever nationalality they feel like, and only 2.6% on education. The Bouncing Souls have a comic book out called Addicted to War, which is actually very insightful to all the wars up to the present that America has been invloved in. You guys should check it out. See where all our tax dollars go, and then go tell your senator to stop wasting your money!
Stormi <Stormi826@aol.com>

Just something for those of you who will be voting in the 2004 presidential election: Wesley Clark is not someone to vote for. He had initially tried to join GW Bush's presidential cabinet, but because one of Bush's advisor's did not like him, he didn't get in. Between that, and a grudge that he gained from a certain republican not returning his call, he thought he'd take revenge and just join the Democratic party for the heck of it. He's not a Democrat.. he's a Republican behaving like a 2 year old who didn't get his way. Remind you of anyone? Oh wait.. yeah.. GW Bush.

I've talked with Human, our friendly street team coordinator, and there may be some open spots on the guest list for those of you who wish to participate! Let's show these guys how much we care! I'm doing fuckin great. Hwo bout yourself? Well, the truth is... I'm really fucking bored. I need fun. I spent all day yesturday *over nine hours* programing and trackin this one inkydinky song. And today I touched it up and was ganna do some vocals...but I have no drive for it today. I need some good ole fashioned fun! I would go to a show and reresh my rock batterys...but there ain't no freggin shows tonite! I would tuff it out till this wensdays show with theSTART... But thats why I'm working on two songs. I always have something for the band to listen to. The last few months I've been slaggin off on music. So, I'm back to my guns. WEE!!! Someone save me!!! One rock-boy can't do this all alone!!! I'd just like to say that I've been a big fan of these guys for 4 years, and they are one of the best groups out there, not just musically, but they are some of the coolest and sincere people I've ever met. They have opened up my eyes to so many things, and truely changed my life...I know it sounds all sappy and shit, but its true. Support these guys any way you possibly can, they deserve it!!
Sarah "Stormi" <Stormi826@aol.com>
Dallas, TX USA -
Obviously I was dissapointed that you guys didn't get to finish playing last night, but I will still take any chance I can get to support the band and show that you have fans here in LA. Even with the cancellation I can't remember ever having more fun in one evening than that. The band members coming out to apologize to the audience and billy meeting us for drinks afterwards shows that you guys really care about the people that listen to your music. On top of that I got to meet an extremely interesting person because of your show, even though I completely choked at the end of the night by leaving with no contact information (if you happen to read this that is my real e-mail address). I wish you the best of luck with the rest of your tour and hope that aimee feels better very soon.

after the show last night, i saw Jamie walking the famous dog (i don't know the his/her name, though) down decatur st. and i stopped to talk a bit, i was the guy wearing the black shirt walking with too many people; i just wanted to further what i said: (addressed to the band) you guys (and girl) make wonderful music. also, i really hope Aimee makes it through this throat/voice situation ok... i'm sure anyone who hears about it will also hope the same. oh, and after checking out that slightly untitled EP, i'd say i'm definitely looking forward to more releases.
hope you guys make it out alright.

I just wish to comment that I am a long time fan of the Start and I believe that their venue for the Girlz Garage Tour that's coming thru Utah should be moved FAR FAR AWAY from Club DV8. This club defies all the new laws of the beer tax Utah has implemented and keeps everyone away. Prohibition is alive and thriving here, so do everything you can to keep them out.
Ellie <rubber_ducky17@lycos.com>
SLC, UT USA -
Word is that the San Antonio show is NOT HAPPENING. Despite it being listed both on the Girlz Garage and theStart website, no venues know of it actually occurring. theStart site says it is at the white rabbit, but the rabbit already has a halloween line up. The Rox Room has stated that they definitely are not hosting a girlz garage tour on halloween. So looks like we are all S O L

Anyone in the Dallas, TX or Austin, TX area, I urge you guys to make it to the show!!!! As some of you know attendance at these shows has not been very high due to lack of promotion. Make the START known to the world!!! Do whatever you have to do, but most importnatly, support your band and go to the shows!!!! Bring whoever you can with you, the more people, the better!! And do these guys a favor and drop a little something in the tip jar while you are there, these guys work hard to bring you this great music. But anyways, guys, if at all possible, support the shows by going.
Thanks.

Goodness, I've never seen such a wickedly awesome performance, but that was before i went to the Girlz Garage Tour and discovered that enchanting band those crazy kids call "The Start." Even though most of the people in the state of virginia and in norfolk decided to miss the best concert they were ever given the chance to partake in (such rawkin' chicks in all bands!), it was ok with the few people that were randomly there. Me and my striped hat and emo glasses wearing friend enjoyed "mosh pit dancing." First time in my life that i actually felt like an insane spitting cat twirling around in circles and stumping my feet. I liked that feeling. Cannot wait til The Start comes back here. Until then... i shall be religiously listening to my "The Start" cd. WOOO!

irving plaza rocked the house! i experimented with how much merchandise one can actually wear on one's person while rocking out with one's proverbial cock out... which we did. everybody was totally awesome, especially the circle pit/disco party during lillix :) no seriously though you people had better learn some goddamn brassy songs and rock out before the rest of the shows cos they don't get nearly enough credit for what they do and at both shows i was at they won over the audience by the end anyway! so you may as well get a head start. oh, and northern state were so much fun and so sweet and it sucks for the rest of you that we got to see them and you didn't but nyeh nyeh :P i am editing and uploading photos, though they are mostly live pictures of brassy and ns... i imagine punchy's will be better. aimee, i hope you're feeling alright :) we'll miss you guys until you come back!

ok philly was totally: shakedown!/gorgeous/glimmer man/dvs/1234/peacocks/nemesis. the band went OFF. in terms of how hyper the band was, it reminded me of the old footage of midnight oil doing a show on goat island in sydney harbour in 1985, only obviously this was theSTART instead of theOILS. as for the other bands, cupcake totally brought the funk. or is it danish? strudel? scone? ah hell i forget.

Hi Aimee! I noticed that on the tour you will be playing San Antonio, Texas on the 31st of October. I have not missed any of your shows here in San Antonio, but my dilemma is this: The Start will be playing at the Rox, and I am only 20. The Rox is 21 and up, is there any way to PLEASE get me in or at least change the age, (if you can talk to the club). I DON'T mind helping out at the merch table or with equipment. I am not asking to get in for free, I will still pay, I just want the chance to be able to see you guys live again. If I had my car I would just go to the Austin show, but this is my only option. Thank you so much

they changed the rule about having to be born in the u.s. to be president, i think. you need to be a resident for a certain number of years and a citizen for another. or maybe that's mayor. i can't remember, there were too many hot girls in my government class.
i'll probably be in baltimore this saturday too, by the way. see everyone there.

I wonder how long this phone interview is going to be on that internet punk show. Is anyone going to tape it? I'm ganna give it a try. I'm ganna be using good ole' fashioned 90minute tape and I think I'm going to try and run it back into my machine at the same time... just in case my tape gets that lame distortion. I just have to do my homework and make sure I don't press the wrong button and get feedback. *pets the mute button* Should I tape the whole show or just the interview?

if you have cable you should probably try to sit through a few hours of c-span to see what your local senators are saying. yesterday they were debating the $87B bill for military and reconstruction spending in iraq. they're making decisions that will impact our lives for decades to come. it would be a good idea to inform yourself on their opinions and positions and what they're planning on doing with our country. and when the senators return to their respective states that they represent all of you can effectively voice your own opinions on what they've been saying. i mean both sides of the fence. if you agree with them you should vocally support them and if you think they're fuck ups you should protest their existence in your state.all apologies for the politics. here you go: fred durst eats nutty shit balls. fred, you should never touch the who. now you've gone and done it. and, to top if off, you deflower the love of my life. how could you take advantage of somebody as young and supple and outrageously hot as bill paxton?! you son-of-a-bitch!

oh malcolm you should see the video. fred kidnaps thora birch (ghostworld) and ties her up in a chair in muggy muddy swamp and screams the song at her with a megaphone. all the while bill paxton is searching the surrounding area with hounddogs. by the end of the video, fred has enchanted thora so much with his whole production that she motions to him from her tied up chair that paxton is closing in, allowing for the bands safe retreat into the night. or maybe paxton gets him in the end. i dunno. i accidentally turned off the tv when i rolled over onto the remote LAUGHING SO GODDAMN HARD

Thanks Stef, now I have to read the whole rotten library! Haha. Nice "Morbid Fact Du Jour" of the day:In Forensic Entomologist Zakaria Erzinclioglu's book "Maggots, Murder and Men" he describes the following unlikely investigation:"One day in early Septebmer, I received a somewhat unsettling telephone call from the police. The dead body of an old man had been discovered on August 31st in a house that had been boarded up. He was laying in bed. His body was infested with maggots. He had no family or friends. Nobody knew anything about him. I knew what I was about to be asked to do. 'Doctor, can you tell us whether he died before or after the house was boarded up?' The thought of an old, clearly sick man lying helpless in his house, unable to do anything for himself or even to cry out as his house was being sealed in darkness from the outside world, was haunting." Based on Erzinclioglu's examination of the maggots and the temperature of the house, "I had to conclude that the old man had died *after* the house was boarded up. Not only that, but he had died at least a week after he was shut away from the world." The incident was determined to be a tragic accident.

besides, human drunks have done that to just about everybody anyway, so for Oliver that's forgivable.

i dunno, kt. i think oliver might just spend his time trying to hump your leg.

I don't think that they're headlining, but we all know that they are by far the most important band playing!
Jessica

So is theSTART headlining Girlz Garage?
Jes(sic)a

i don't ever want to hear another band referred to as a "canadian threat" for as long as i live. no offense to canadians cos i love your country, i do, but oh man. and the 1234 video is easily the best video of the lot... but the shots of them playing in a little tiny living room with a bunch of people sitting on couches... reminds me of the booming metropolis of easthampton. i still can't wait for this tour. did anybody just catch those nice juicy madonna kisses on the vmas? "you're fabulous." "no, dahling, YOU are."
stefanie
-
just watched the clip. hmm, seems like there's a lot of diverity between the bands playing. out of the other four bands, i'd say the peak show appeals to me the most. theSTART's music was played the most through the clip, though. "the 1234" looks pretty dang nice, can't wait til we get to see the full version. CAN'T WAIT FOR THE TOUR!!

Hello me'hearties. lookey what i found on the Garage website... a showreel thingy of all the bands including a bitesize portion of the 1234 video. you need a FAST connection though and Quicktime. click on my name to see. xoxo

oliver is one of those Weekly World News batboy-type stories, except that he actually exists, and is living out the last of his days at the Primarily Primates facility in San Antonio. oliver walks upright, watches television with a discerning taste, mixes his own scotch and drinks coffee every morning, and is only interested in human females, not associating with other chimps at all. oliver was adopted as an infant by a wildlife enthusiast couple in the seventies. while this couple never made a concerted effort to train oliver to do these things, he seemed to learn from observation and soon his attempts at getting into bed with the wife got tiresome and the couple sold him. he spent the next decade or so being exhibited everywhere as a freak. there are only a few published pictures of oliver, and its not suprising that this was how he was marketed. its very strange to see stand, and im sure even stranger to witness walk a chimp who is postured upright with his shoulders back and his hands at his sides. his cigar-smoking (!) and whiskey consumption while he's doing this notwithstanding. peep this: "One time he was out of coffee. I never trained him to do this, but maybe he knew it from the past. He got up from the table, walked into the kitchen, picked up the coffee pot, poured coffee into my cup, then into his, and then took the pot back into the kitchen," DeCroo said. "But here's the chimp part. He's making a terrible mess. His brain is telling him what to do, but his body isn't quite doing it. But he had the awareness. He understood where all the elements fit and that I was out of coffee. It was shocking."

weird... they just announced a manson show at the 930 in dc on the same day girlz garage was supposed to go there... so i checked and girlz garage has been moved to norfolk, va that day... which is a good six hours from philly. so uhh we may cross that off our itinerary ladies. damn you marilyn!

ok so check this shit out. did some digging. there have been so many crashes in this country its not even funny. here are a few: on december 6th, 1950 outside of Laredo, Tx; on may 21, 1953 in Kingman, Az; april 19 1962 the airforce may have shot or forced on down outside Las Vegas; and of course, the criminally overlooked Kecksburg, Pennsylvania incident on the evening of december ninth 1965, where firefighters responded to an explosion in the woods and found a giant silver acorn. something probably came down in or near Aurora, Tx in 1897, but those are all historical accounts and the headstone for the body of the gifted "little person" the townspeople supposedly buried was stolen decades ago. WHAT DOES HAVE TO TAKE!?!? for one to come down in an urban area during noon rush hour?AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH! fuck

it looks like they traced it back to ohio... so it's our fault? allow me to personally take responsibility for the whole ordeal on behalf of the united states, cos anything that goes wrong in the world i now tend to file under "our fault" without even bothering to investigate <3 i was one of those lucky bastards in a high-rise building in new york city and i got to fight off thousands of commuters to hop a ferry five miles from my workplace to some town i didn't even live in! took almost six hours and left me with an intense love for humanity. did you see me on the news? i was the tiny pink and black dot running up and down the length of the hudson river, screaming "FUCK ALL Y'ALL!" but jersey got power back fairly quickly.. for somewhat start-related content, anybody in the nyc area - brassy are playing in brooklyn at southpaw tomorrow (monday) night for ten bucks; if public transportation is running properly you should try to be there to get a preview of girlz garage.

yall shouldnt feel so bad. austin itself has a homeless transvestite who runs for mayor every term. and every term he gets a few more votes. if any of yall were to ever pass through and spot a prissy old leathery bearded queen with a princess tiara on, toting a huge cart with a sign that says "will work for $150,000 a year", you certainly wouldn't be the first to wonder how well a man like leslie cochran would run a public office.

yesterday my friends, was a very important anniversary here in austin; charles whitman day. whether or not that thing growing in his brain really caused him to do what he did, no one will know. maybe it was the old central texas heat. coincidentally, it was also the day, a couple of decades before, that we split the atom on foreign soil. some japanese observances are lasting throughout the week. wow. on another note, the baghdad batteries, those two-thousand year old clay and copper electric batteries (pesky things, how they totally disprove all of our proud notions of modernity) have been according to some outlets, counted among the some fiftythousand sacked items from the baghdad historical museum. so i'm thinking about a sort of roving expeditionary antique road show type of gig. i just need what everybody needs to get the damn thing off the ground. all that and listening to the del mccoury band makes me feel like robbing a bank.

No, passivism is too much of an injustice. Some people are just not comfortable with not caring. Or just don’t get the fortune of having it easy. THE START DVDs!!Ok, I've cleared everything with Aimee Echo. We spoke tonight at Trees in Dallas, in which they put on a fantastic show!! Good news is we taped that show also.Ok, we have made 2 DVDs.1. theSTART- Live at The Gypsy Tea Room, Dallas, TX- 7-20-032. theSTART- Live at Trees, Dallas, TX- 8-5-03Ok, the following was something that I discussed with Aimee Echo. I CAN'T pay for blank DVD+Rs (Very pricy, especially compared to DVD-R), and postage. If 10 people wanted the DVD, that would cost me about $70! Now what you guys could do is send me a DVD+r, and money for shipping, but if you wanna buy one DVD+r it's gonna cost you $3-6. Then shipping! The best and obvious solution, since I already have a ton of DVD+Rs, is for everyone to send $7 for 1 DVD, $10 for 2 DVDs. they want. This covers the shipping, and blank DVDs. 1 DVD- $72 DVD- $10READ THE FOLLOWING VERY CAREFULLY. I WILL MAKE $0 OFF THE FOLLOWING.THESTART WILL MAKE $0 OFF THE FOLLOWING.NOW PLEASE READ THAT AGAIN.This is just to distribute it to what theSTART stands for, THE FANS!If you want a copy, mail $7 or $10 US cash, or US money order to:Matt Bober7413 Fitchburg Ave.Garland, TX 75044USAIn your letter, PLEASE write what the money is for. I know that many of you are wary of sending money in the mail. Well, I am very reliable, and will get you your DVD within a few days of receiving your money. If all else fails, you've got my address to harrass me at! jk, it won't be a problem at all. Thanks to theSTART for allowing me to distribute this to the fans, and thanx to the start again for putting on 2 great shows that we were fortunate enough to capture on video.Sincerely,Mattmattbober@hotmail.com

me too, i usually show them "the 1234" first. umm, normal tourist stuff, like statue of liberty, empire state building, broadway. went to chinatown and little italy and got lost there. uhh. went to the today show, twice. well, one and a half since it was pouring today so left halfway through. but that's a little too much info. and yeah, i think i may start showing people "her song" instead.
Phil
-
natalie when are you sending me the rest of your pictures? i'd say the 1234 is the best song to introduce people with... hi flyer if you're feeling frisky. phil what did you do in new york?

So you're in another country? that's the most lamecore excuse i've heard since....wel okay, fair enough. and for your information Jenny I will be 21. dear god I feel old, although that probably has more to do with the ridiculous hangover i'm suffering.by the way, if were comparing interesting reviews, check out http://www.whisperinandhollerin.com/reviews/review.asp?id=709 and read the bit about Johnny castaway. someone on the other msg board posted this and I wanted to share this here as well. Perhaps you can help me figure something out. This is from skratch magazine www.skratchmagazine.com find the article at http://www.skratchmagazine.com/livereviews.phphere is what it said about thestart :The next band up was The Start. The first time I heard about them they were playing Chain Reaction in Anaheim on a Wednesday night with minimal turnout. The press for the band stated that they just got off a tour with No Doubt. A band that toured with No Doubt has to be good, right? You'd think that, wouldn't you? But apparently this isn't the case. Their whole performance was marred by their singer's tireless efforts to get the crowd engaged. Ultimately, her efforts were unquestionably ineffective, and the band lacks charisma. They have energy, that's easy to see, but it's spastic, lacking a certain focus. I guess that's the biggest problem with this band. I don't know what they're trying to do with themselves when they're up on stage.
jwo

malcom, buy me a plane ticket and get me a passport and ill come down for your birthday. :) ill even purchase you a birthday card. how old will you be?

billy + erick = a whole new band. and we love them.
stefanie and natalie

Very true. Everyone should come to my birthday party in london on the 16th of august so they can meet her. (This post has two purposes, a) to make people come to my party, and b) to make Laura feel so guilty about how many people she would be letting down if she didn't come, so that she has no choice. )
Mal = evil criminal mastermind.

personally i think there should be more meeting of laura. laura rocks.
kenickie
-
Jeez, what are the odds. Bizarrly enough I was at a gig in brixton last night cheering on some uni buddies, and laws couldn't make it, despite it being in her neck of the woods. Not a very similar story I grant you, other than they both involve gigs, laura, and not meeting.
I'll shut up now.
Metal Malcolm
-
so basically, i've been listening to theSTART's LP exclusively for approximately one week straight-- i'm addicted. i still kick myself in the ass for being too broke to buy their EP (DVS)... their words and music are so poignant. geezus. i could crap my pants. hopefully, they keep it up.

natalie and stefanie - I HATE YOU! well, not really but here i am sat in a house in new york and you've driven down to DC to see theSTART. raaargh! nat, i'll give you a call when you get back.

I'll do my best to come by at some point, but i'm working pretty much all summer. There's a big party down in london on the 16th of august though if you can make it. Bring the gf. Failure/ A Perfect Circle guitarist Troy Van Leeuwen, currently touring the country on Lollapalooza with Queens of the Stone Age, joined self-confessed Failure fanatics Cave In onstage at a recent Lolla stop in Columbus, Ohio, for a cover of Failure's "Magnified." "[Failure are] the band we've not-so-secretly ripped off for years and years," reads a post on Cave In's Web site.

the austin show was the shit, as per usual. except for my roommates, who convinced me that the ole' SLOBURN was in town and playing the vibe. i loved kyuss back in the day so after i bid farewell to aimee izzle and jamie mizzle of the stizzle, i head on down to the vibe to sit through several shitty bands before "sloburn" came on, only to find out that "sloburn" wasn't "sloburn", but it was "sloburn" instead. NOT the same fucking band. which was kind of a letdown but hey...the night went well anyway. i bought this wino a slice of pizza for his lifestory but it was boring as all fuck if you can imagine such a thing. i stuck around right up until his vietnam sobstory began, then i had to bail. after you do this kind of thing hundreds of times and turn up hundreds of agent orange victims, a shrapnel wound in the ass resulting in a numb leg just doesn't measure up.
