Okay, I apologise in advance because i'm in a really bad mood at the moment (Personal Reasons), so i'll try and be reasonable, but I'm sorry if I offend anyone.

This whole War situation has become incredibly patronising, very arrogant, and just so fucking stupid I'm having difficulty reasoning with it. Leo, let's look at this, you blame the clinton administration. Well, personally, I thought Clinton didn't do too bad. He was an asshole, undoubtedly, but all politicians are. I find it amazing that anyone can use some of the language i've heard this week and not realise what they're saying. Firstly, the powers that be in the US will have made some serious money from this situation, and anyone can realise that if the US really cared, this would never have happened. It's very true that the Taliban government have a disgusting regime, that their treatment of women is unforgivable, and that Osama Bin Laden is a truly fanatic man. BUT THIS DID NOT SPRING UP OVERNIGHT! The US trained Bin Laden, The US have given him the capabilities he has now, the US, had they a modicum of sense, would have known he was "Evil" from the start and never trained him, but they didn't care, they just wanted the russians dealt with. The Taliban has been in power for an age, and the US has supported them financially, mainly because of their supposed anti drugs stance. And now they turn round and say these people are evil? You FUCKING HYPOCRITES! I am not saying thatOsama Bin Laden was not behind the attacks. He almost certainly was. But that's how it looked last time. And then, everyone was wrong. The courts do require a lot of proof, yes, simply so that should never happen. And as for the west not having a Brainwashing mentality, that is so far beyond naive i'm not even going to contemplate it. Anyone who has read a British Tabloid Newspaper should know what I mean. The west will drag out this situation for as long as they can, because they will make more money for the military, the governments will gain more support, and they will increase their stranglehold over the middle east in the battle for Oil etc.The west has allowed this situation to happen, and to now stand up disgusted claiming they'll wipe this "Evil" from the face of the earth is sickening. It literally brings a foul taste to my mouth.

There's an anti war meeting in hyde park, 12 noon, saturday. If anyone in the UK wants to go, i'll be there. Mail me to meet up.

Again, I repeat my question. WHAT IS A TERRORIST? WHAT IS TERRORISM? NOBODY CAN TELL ME, AND I'M GETTING REALLY PISSED OFF ABOUT IT!

Hey everyone! I dont know if any of you have seen "the man who saw tomorrow" about Nostradamus and peoples interpretations of what he predicted...its kinda freaky, especially when they get to the "future" part, which is supposed to be now (the movie is pretty old). The way it was interpreated was off a little, with the dates anyway. Its definitely something worth watching. I saw it on the history channel the other day, maybe they'll play it again. What more can you say about Osama other than he is just a dark entity...*evil* if you will. stay safe.

Leo, what really makes me sick is your view towards human life. To say that the lives of the UN workers weren't as important as those in the WTC is disgusting! ANY loss of life is truamatic and saddening. I'm sorry I can't say I support war where even more innocent people will die. If it's unpatriotic to think that we don't need any more innocent deaths in this world than so be it. We've seen enough lives lost, why wish for more. You cannot justify a death with another death!!! Life is the most precious thing we have on this earth. Do not tell me that it is ok to take that away from people just to make you feel better about the trajedies that have already occured!! That is what I call sick, the disregard for human life that you have shown!

And stop trying to justify no millitary action because of four stupid UN workers. I call them stupid because they knew it was coming. America gave ALL of those people in Afghanistan tons of warnings to leave the country. It is like the idiot who sales his boat into the ocean although he has been warned that there is a huge storm coming. So what happens, he goes into the enviornment he was told to stay away from. So he takes that risk. You are trying to justify breaking our security because four UN workers got hurt. They DID know that it could happen, but they stayed anyway. It is horrible that they died but they took the risk. That is it. All of you are just supporting Bin Laden if you argue against the USA in this. Bin Laden wants you preach peace, because peace will give him more time to plot more attacks.

Don't belive the hype. Have faith in your governemnt. Sympathy for their actions is just another level of their plan. If you want to say to turn off the tv and just ask for peace then you may as well be one of them. You people should be ashamed for helping Bin Laden gain support.

Sometimes war is the only sollution. Please understand and maybe do a little research that these people will not discuss or work things out. Their only objective is to kill any America they see, that is it. You can't work with that. We are not going after their people, many are scared to speak up against the government because of what they might do to them, but there is a growing number of Afghan people joining the Northern Alliance because they don't want the Talliban to recruit them. These are just facts. War sucks? Yes, but it needs to be done. In World War II we spent years not doing anything to Hitler because we wanted to work things out. We had meetings with him and his top officials and they promised us and many other countries that they would stop. He wanted everybody not like him dead. If the USA hasn't stepped in against them we would not be living the kind of life we are now. If after Pearl Harbo we just tried to talk it out instead of nuking them then you would not have the kind of freedom you have. Japan said after they bombed us that they feared they had woken up a sleeping giant. Well the sleeping giant was woken up again. I know you hate war, but it is not a contradiction. We are going after the people who attacked us, this is protection not aimless killing like they have done just to kill people because they are of a certain background. I really wish that people would do research on this and other wars to see what it really means. It is easy for you to sit back and talk trash but at the end of the day it is the people you trash who are fighting so that you will have another day. Terrorism must never go unpunished. This would lead those to believe they are winning. You speak of god, well remember you are Satan to them. The only thing to get rid of the terrorists is to put the fear of god into them. All you are doing is helping them by being against the attacks on them. You are using symphathy for the devil. Trying to understand the killer so that you can justify his doings but at the same time say we are sick. I pray that one day you get a good dose of reality to wake you up from your uninformed anti-american opinions. War is the only answer to this, that is it.

I understand that we are all very hurt, due to the tragic events on Sept.11; Yet I have one question. ISN'T MURDER WHAT WE ARE MAD AT? OR IS IT THE FACT THAT THEY DISTORTED THE "MONUMENTS"? If we are in fact mad at the whole killing issue, aren’t we contradicting ourselves? War is not the way to make things right. There will only be more terror and the possibilities of more terrorism. There will be millions of innocent people who will also lose their lives. Who gives a damn if they are from Afghanistan. They're humans just as we are- There isn't any sense of joy or pride knowing that the US is bombing this nation. Many will die- Afg. is a poor country as it is, the US has helped them out, but yet now we are taking everything back by kill innocent people. It sickens me to know that that guy..don't know his name..thinks that the death of the four UN people is insignificant. How the hell would you like it if those four people were apart of you? You'd be crushed knowing that the own US killed them- I understand that it may have been an accident, but shit happens! The only problem is that the shit is going to hit many others, and we are ALL going to suffer from this- OUR liberty, freedom, and everything we stand for is at stake here. I feel sad to be an American today, don't get me wrong America is a wonderful nation, but just knowing that many Americans are pro-war is somewhat disgusting. I know we can't sit our cunts down and talk it over tea, but war is not the answer. Honestly, I just wouldn't know a solution for this mess...may GOD just save us all!(if any of you would like to respond personally, feel free to do so)

If you don't understand what is happening, you are not alone. Don't blame each other. The power that we each have to overcome our fear is knowledge. Why are we so afraid? The fear grows until it becomes terror, which is our name for the biggest fear we can imagine. So now we are all imagining the worst that can happen, rather than the best. Who are these terrorists? Why have we not heard much about them before now? They believe leaders who tell them lies. How to beat them? Know the Truth! Turn off your TV. Read & learn. Your life may depend on it! Start with "Osama Bin Laden-the man who declared war on America" by Yossef Bodansky~1998. The more you know the less likely you will be to blindly accept & follow the Leader. Be of brave heart. Imagine Peace.

Jen, progress over the past 20 years. This happened because instead of keeping an eye on what was going on we did nothing. We did not one thing to prevent this from taking place. This is a result of the left wing, democratic Clinton years.
Leo Alberti <orbitalgun76@hotmail.com>
Bemidji, MN USA -
I knew Jen would be stupid about this. Four UN workers? Yeah, that sucks, but in times of war accidents to happen. But I would like to point out that ALL people were told that attacks were coming so these people had every oppurtunity to leave. It is sad, but don't ask us to stop our attack and threaten our security for 4 people dead. You appear to forget over 7,000 dead in the states. You are so un-american, you should really go over there since you defend them more then your own goverment and fellow citizens. Go away with your peace mentality. Peace doesn't work with people who only want death. It was tried with Hitler. Hell, we even built up Bin Laden, we brought him to power and he still hates us. So no, I don't think that four UN members dead is reason to rethink our strategy, it happens. It is amazing Jen that you care so much about four UN members to back up your un-american un-supportive junk when the Talliban has muredered thousands of Afghanistan women since coming to power. If you are a women you face being killed just for being outside, if somebody thinks you looked at them, guess what bullet in the head. A terrible accident of four UN members is no grounds for being un-american. All you are doing is supporting Bin Laden. He wants Americans to not support the government. He is a genius liar. He has it crafter so well that you actually believe what he says. Go to Afghanistan Jen, experience it first hand. Or better yet, go on the net and fine a video calle "Jihad in Ameica". It is a video put out that was filmed inside not only these groups in Afghanistan but all over the world. I PROMISE that when you watch it, you will be so scared that you will never dismiss our actions again. This is a video footage they took, not americans. You will get a full dose of reality real quick.
Leo Alberti <orbitalgun76>
Bemidji, MN USA -
I am amazed at the stupidity of peolple against the attacks. First off we do have the proof. If you take the time to go to the FBI website there is a link to the list of "facts" in the case. Bin Laden was behind the attacks. His bank accounts have been linked to "ALL" of the ATM accounts from the attackers on Sept. 11. His network bought stock in the company's the week before the attacks. One of Bin Laden's associates who is in custody now has given great evidence against Bin Laden because this man was a planner in the Sept. 11th attacks. Also you are a HUGE IDIOT because do you really think that the USA should tell us every source and every fact. We are fighting a war and I'm sorry "loose lips sink ships". We have mountains of evidence if you would actually look into it instead of being a tree hugger. You have to realize that some of the evidence can not be disclosed for months or even a good year. Many of these people who have given proof, are still in the Talliban government, some even working along with Bin Laden. The northern alliance who is made up of the Afghans against the Talliban have people in these groups gathering information. WE ARE NOT BOMBING RANDOM TARGETS! You say that we should risk people in the ground to go in, well their are stages. First we need to get rid of the camps, homes, millitary bases, tanks etc... that they could use against our people. War does not have one stage, it has many. First we get rid of their largest weapons. Within the next week is when the special forces will be moving in to hunt down Bin Laden. I think everybody agrees that we would love to see Bin Laden alive brought back to the USA but with all the people willing to die for him it will probably come down to "If you have a shot, take it". Whoever the idiot is who says the west is brainwashed, you are morons. We do not have schools or goverment run centers set up in ANY area of the USA that promotes children killing others and themselves. Comparing idiot right wing Christians to terrorists is sick. So if you want I will send you the money for a ticket over there. You don't support your government who is going to save your ass. You don't care about the 7,000 dead fellow citizens but care more about millitary bases that are set up so that if they get the chance they will kill YOU. You should be ashamed of yourself. America has given Afghanistan more food and medical supplys then to any other middle eastern country over the past 10 years or so. We have given them their power, don't forget America are the ones who helped them to take out Russia. So what do they do, stick to their old guns of if you aren't Muslim, then eat it. This isn't a war against muslim, it is a war against terrorism. This is what is going on: We DO have the proof that Bin Laden is behind it. Just as we have proof that he was behind the embassy bombings, but the Talliban still won't hand him over. He is planning more attacks. All the terrorists on those Sept. 11th attack do have strong ties to Bin Laden, some of them have even been seen in the training camps in the past. All their money that they had been living off of for many years, and the money to pay for $40,000 flight school came from Bin Laden's organization. The USA is bombing millitary targets. No civilian homes or markets are being targeted. Once the bombing is done within the end of the week, the northern alliance will be moving in to take over. Once this happens USA will be able to show itself on the ground more and go directly after people. As to Jen who says that we will regret this. Well no matter what is done things won't be perfect, but if we either try to talk things out, which we have been trying for 10 years now or just sit back then they will launch even more attacks. Have some respect for your fellow citizens. I am very happy that 92% of the population is behind America's reaction. They waited an entire month to launch these attacks, that is amazing. They did it right, Bin Laden will be brought to justice in one way or another. Once the Talliban goverment is taken out the US is going to offer great support to help the country out. The only people who believe the hype are those of you who think we are causing this to happen, and that we shouldn't be surprised if we are bombed. You are like the people in Nazi Germany, who didn't do anything, you just let it happen. Well if you wake up with Anthrax one day then you might think different about what they will do to you. It is us or them. If a biological attack is waged by them which the FBI is looking into in Florida, then nuclear power will be used. EVERY top official has eluded to that. We have given them chances, we asked them to hand over Bin Laden and we HAVE given them the proof. And they still won't. You might not know how courts work but you need an overwhelming amount of evidence, and they have it. You could give the Talliban a video of Bin Laden teaching a class on how we will crush the world trade centers and wearing a shirt saying "I DID IT" and they would still ask for proof. Don't you get it, they are in on it too. You should be ashamed to be an American, how rude to the tens of thousands of people who lost people in the attacks that you sympathize with the enemy. Your government is saving your neck. I will never regret putting faith in the USA goverment. It is sick to try to "Understand" the enemy, there is nothing to understand they want us all dead, they are fanatics. It is time to get all of them

all along they've only told you wanted they wanted you to hear. this whole situation isn't any different. you'll hear what they want you to hear. not what you want to hear. the media is going to be extremely censored in this whole thing. the states doesn't care if bin laden is dead or alive when they get him. and putting him in jail in the USA wouldn't do any good. honestly. his followers would just do something else as a "free bin laden or else..." plee. bin laden is a hypocrite. just like hitler was. it's the honest truth. and then hiding behind religion on top of it - a lame excuse. if you ask me the taliban should really take a look at who they're supporting and hiding. for all the things they are supposed to be against - don't you all think they're protecting the wrong man?
bin laden shoved his foot in his mouth anyway. when he stated it wasn't over and there would be more attacks.
that is all i can say for now. i'm trying to stay out of this...but it's getting very hard.

hypnaughtika

I agree that Bin Laden needs to be taken care of, but do we really have to stoop down to his level in order to do so? Killing him will just make him a martyr. We need to bring him back to America and let him rot in jail so his followers can see how much power he really has. As for history repeating itself you couldn't be more right. We probably gave Bin Laden as many warnings as we gave Hitler. Yet surprise surprise he decided to see just how far he could take things. What else do you expect to come from him. If we really wanted to avoid this we could've. Why didn't America do anything when he bombed our embassy or the other world trade tower years ago. We allowed the growth of his suicide schools and his following. We are as much to blame for this mess since we let him get away with so much. We just gave him a warning and said that's bad please don't do it again. If we really wanted to get him we could, he has been one of the most visible people in the the media these past years yet we've never bothered. We basically said that it's ok for him to kill a few dozen people just no more than that. Even now we aren't going after him! I'm glad that these bombings are making everyone feel better. Because they aren't achieving anything. They aren't targeted at anyone.(Not that I want them to be!) We're just dropping bombs all over the place to show that we are americans and that we have bombs. If you actually believe we are going to solve this problem by dropping a few random bombs than you are as brainwashed as Bin Laden's followers. The only thing we are doing by dropping these bombs is flexing our muscle and proving to world how "strong" we are. By the way, whoever said we this is being done for our freedom thanks for the laugh, I needed one today. Haven't you noticed all the censorship that has sprung up all of the sudden, or what about all of the muslims in our country who are being harassed, is that what you call freedom? Why even on this speakout people are giving Aimee crap for wearing an anarchy necklace. God forbid anyone have a different idea. Aimee's showing what a strong person she really is. She isn't afraid to hide what she believes, unlike the majority of americans. Our freedom has never been in as much jeopardy as it is right now. In this past month all of our progress from the past 20 years or so has been erased, and the most disgusting thing is that no one cares! We are putting our blind faith in our government and when this little problem is solved we're going to be sorry we did so.

Okay. Put it this way. I am not disagreeing that Bin Laden is a despicable man. I think everyone agrees on that.

BUT

1) There is not one arguement the west are using to bomb afghanistan that could not be reversed and used to justify Bin Laden's attacks. It all boils down to "We're right and you're wrong". NO PROOF HAS BEEN RELEASED TO SAY BIN LADEN DID ANYTHING. The Us trained Bin laden to help attack the russians during the cold war, they touted him as a "freedom fighter", now he seems to have revolted, they aren't so happy. Funny that isn't it? As for Afghani weapons, do you really the the US doesn't have 1000 times the capability? and just as many religious fanatics? Only they're christian, so it's okay. There is no reason to bomb iraq, other than Georgie boy felt like it. The US sanctions on Iraq have killed 5% of the population (I think that's the figure), which, when translated to the population of the US, makes 14 million deaths. I am not disagreeing that the attacks were disgusting, and punishment should follow, but bombing afghanistan will make things worse. Yes, let's blame the "Tree hugging" mentality. Never mind the US companies that have been selling the fucking weapons to the middle east for years. They have nothing to fucking do with it do they! Brainwashing kids...let's see......oh yeah, I forgot, the west doesn't do that, they just have churches. If they wanted to kill Bin laden, they could do so. I crack team, send in the assassins. Instead, they go for bombs. It gets them publicity, support, allows the Military to justify increased funding, and helps convey the All controlling image the West wants to convey. There's been a report here in the UK that a top spin doctor has suggested the government use this catastrpohe to get rid of any Bad news (Affairs, Drug scandals etc) because no one will care right now. I get scared that people are stupid enough to fall for that kind of ruse.

Anyway, go check out MichaelMoore.com as he conveys a point far better than me.

And to Jennifer real quick. You say that we insist on using violence to work this out? Well of course! These people aren't going to sit down and talk. History repeats itself, and Bin Laden was a Hitler in early stages. America sat down with Hitler as did other political leaders of the world trying to work things out and on 5 major occasions where Hitler said "ok, ok, peace, yeah" he didn't change a thing. War is not ideal, but it is reality. Peace does not exist, it is a concept. I treat everybody with respect, but saying in any way that the attacks that we are doing to them are bad, well that is sick. You have no idea the thousands upon thousands of people who have died in wars to protect your freedom and democracy.

And a couple other small points. 1) America has given Afghanistan more medical, food and money support over the past 10 years then any Middle Eastern country, and that includes more then Israel. 2)America has been dropping tons and tons of food there for years but Bin Ladens troops get to it first and then distripute it as if they got it for them. 3)America is dropping more food etc... In Afghanistan now then in any other millitary operation ever. But Bin Laden being the master liar that he is, is going on their press saying to Not go near the American food because it is really fill with bombs because America hates you.

With all that disagree with America's attacks on Afghanistan then I think you should get on a plain and join the people over there. See what their culture is really about. You don't get it, thes U.S. millitary strikes are going to save your life. These terrorists are a fanatic group, an off-shoot of Islam that have nothing to do with Islam but their own agenda against anything not like them. Anybody who thinks the hype is real is easily brainwashed. Bin Laden is using the oldest tricks in the book but luckily this time around 92% of the American people are for the attacks. Everything Bin Laden is saying is fake, hype, disinformation. Little facts: 1.)Suicide Schools - The Afghan goverment started years back what are now being dubbed suicide schools. The teach children to kill americans at any cost no matter if it is a child or a president and to kill themselves to do this. 2.) Another thing off the schools are children's programming, which looks like Barney excpet half way through the crap being fed to the kids the children get to stand up and tell why they think killing themselves is a good idea. 3.)They bombed us in case you didn't know! And they will not stop. Each person who was on the plains had "packets" from Bin Laden stating what to do up till the last second. The money that these terrorists got from ATM machines has been traced back to Bin Laden bank accounts. 4.) Not only are the children brainwashed but so are the adults. Did you know that the men in these training camps and the men in those plains were told that when they die there will be 50 virgins waiting for them? 5.) This government is supporting attacks against the US at any cost and hide behind religion. Not only Afghanistan but it is becoming more evident every day that Iraq helped as well. They are spending more money then you can imagine on developing chemical and biological weapons. With today's new information about Anthrax in Florida you should be worried about this. 6.) Did you know that some of the chemicals that they have been developing are so strong that you could touch the screen in front of you with our index finger and 5 minutes later be dead because you just suffocated to death. In closing the tree hugger, 1960's mentality let this happen. We have spent so much time playing "Peace" that while we were doing nothing they were planning these attacks. Peace does NOT solve everything. If you think it does then you live in a fiction based world. It doesn't work like that. It hasn't since the beginning of tie. If we don't take them out and by them I mean "ALL" of their government and "ALL" terrorists and those who support them, then it could be your town attacked next. And to all that think we are just killing whoever, well you are wrong. We are getting milllitary targets, all their camps, power for millitary communication, airports, tanks etc... So that when we send in ground troops to get the individuals all their big "guns" so to say are gone. Plus don't forget that Afghan people are in on this as well. The northern alliance is on the outskirts of major cities waiting to take over, these are Afghan people who are against the perverted Islam group. This needs to happen. I think it is really sad that 7,000 of your fellow citizens can die and you are more worried about the country who did it.

yeah, I was wondering why Echo signed my concert stub with an anarchy before her name, it does kinda sound cool you know anarcy echo. But I don't think it's a very good idea with war on our doorstep, maybe anarchy would work if the entire world was an anarchy, but then you would have to believe in the basic underlying good in all people, which is something I believe in, but I don't think that we can go back to that after we've had government in place for so long. People have grown accustomed to having rules set for them. Anyways I'm just talking out of my ass. So Aimee, if you find a spare moment, could you set me straight as to exactly why you hold the sign for anarchy so close to your heart.

I just have to remind all of you that the war we are waging is not against Bin Laden, but against terrorism as a whole. If we just go and kill Bin Laden, where does that put us in the eyes of the rest of the world? Americans, people that only work for the good of themselves, and don't truely care about other cultures which have undergone terrorism for decades. Or the Isrielites, who have been the subject of many attempts at genocide, ever since Jesus walked the earth, maybe even before that. Well I'm just saying that this war will most likely not be over by the end of Bushes 4 year term if it sticks to it's promise of wiping terrorism from the entire world. Of course I don't want to see any bloodshed, I'm not a hawk, or a dove. I simply feel that we must give Bush credit where it's deserved, and let him know if we are behind him. I also acted very cautioulsly, and it was a very wise decision, because then we know that everybody who died, or almost everybody who died, was somebody that would have if they had the chance crashed into the WTC as well. Theese are just my thoughts, and if you have a problem with them, I'm sorry. but once again feel free to e-mail me or respond to my message.

I don't agree with the attacks either but you can't hold Bush responsible. He's just carrying out the will of the American people. They want revenge and they want to see Bin Laden gone. We're lucky that Bush is thinking things through so much. Others would've gone straight to Afghanistan the day after the attacks and wiped everything and everyone out. As sick as this whole mess makes me and much as I am against the attacks, I feel that if the government and the people of America insist on handle this matter with violence they are doing the best possible job that they can.

no man, you dont understand. i'm so tired of ahting the government. i know they fuck up and i know they arent perfect but think i'm gonna tough this one out with Bush just so he can get this thing done; he says he's devoting his term to wiping scum from the earth? well shit. go for it. this attack is proof of just how surgical it's going to be. there were absolute minimal civilian casualties---if ANY at all, if anybody want to get all semantic over the whole thing. we waited a month to retaliate; this should tell us that they're trying really hard not to fuck this one up, theyre trying really hard to avoid another vietnam or whatever. i'm just going to sit back and watch it all.

I don't know what it's like over there, but I'm glad that here we at least get some news reports that are less than supportive. I've realised over the past few days how much of a pacifist I am. I can't justify these attacks in any way, and if all out war occurs, I'm not gonna be blaming Osama Bin Laden for any more eaths, it's gonna be Bush i'm holding responsible.

KT, keep watching the news man. Far better that than basing your opinions on hearsay. Just make sure you listen to Bill Hicks to keep yourself balanced.

Oh, and happy birthday Jeff.

come dancing along the rims of those fantastic cruise missiles, my friends, and ride them with the proverbial me all the way to the three-square inch target margin which rests upon any number of dried out old mud huts. i see this man everywhere i look now: old and red, maybe 70, with dark withered leathery skin, white hair and cataract-patched eyes staring out into, draped in long white garb and a brown turban, crouched on his sandaled feet with his arms crossed on his knees, fingers extending and retracting, rocking back and forth on the pivot of his old ankles. he rocks on a lot of things--- park benches, building ledges curbsides, mostly; his image was lifted from a grainy CNN film and funneled through the recesses of my sleeping imagination during a 7-hour long binge. these binges are more frequent, increasing in duraion with every one, and show no sign of slowing; i will sit and watch CNN, CNN Headline, Fox News, MSNBC, and CNBC. when it comes to that time of day, i switch it over to local network feeds of the CBS and ABC international news coverage. i can't get any of this out of my system, i need an IV anywhere i go (usually in the form of NPR news coverage in a hand-held radio) and ingest every second of it all with a ferocity unmatched by anything in recent years. its starting to get to me.

Hey...does anyone know if there are any plans for the cover of Breed to get released? Or if someone happens to have stumbled across a recording?

In other notes, I need advice on the new site i'm making for the band, so if people don't mind, will they go see? Thanks a lot. Oh, and I read in the paper that Gary Condit is on a special comission about the Bin Laden situation. Anyone else find that hilarious?

Saw the play twice in one week. Once in the Spectrum before weezer, who they upstaged. Then they played a tiny little show in a town near me, Telford. They really are great at tiny venues. I met them. They are super nice. Aimee tickled me and signed my checkered shoe. I brought them a big bag of candy. I am in love with this band. God bless THE START. MY friend KAte and I started a band after being inspired by the amazing music we heard at the shows, and by their incredible performance of the music. I now join you kids in appreciation of this the best band ever.

Hey I'm a very new fan of the Starts, I just saw them in concert on september 20th in MN playing with Weezer, a band I love, but I think that the Start which opened for Weezer and Cold were the best part of the show. Anyways I got a hug from Aimee or Echo, and I bought their cd then next day, I've been in love with the band ever since I saw them in concert, which isn't that long, but if you're ever riding in my car you can guess what you'll hear. The Start. Well anyways I was just letting you all know that I'm here now, and another adoring fan of their music. Feel free to e-mail me because I currently am training to be a nurse, and it's a very difficult major, so I might not be able to read everything that's put on here. anyways I think my e-mail address will show up here, but in case it doesn't it's curlykingcobra@hotmail.com thank you all for loving the start.

I understand your ride situation Linds, I was going to take the bus. However Family Values may not be coming to Phoenix now. A couple of weeks ago they posted the Phoenix date on their website but now they are saying that the date isn't set in stone and they might not come. I'm going to be so pissed if they don't play here! I paid $10 to buy presale tickets and now they've changed their mind!!! (I know $10 doesn't sound like much but to a college student it is) Why doesn't anyone ever come to Arizona?! Ozzfest, U2, Bush, Green Day, Incubus w/theSTART, and Weezer w/theSTART did not come visit the poor deprived citizens of Arizona. And now Family Values is going to pass us by! I want to see Deadsy dammit!! N'SYNC, Backstreet Boys, and Britney Spears will come three fucking times a year, so why won't anyone else! What did Arizona ever do to the music world. Those of you who live in L.A. are so damn lucky.

"Received this information from a friend who works for development strategies company of St. Louis., Noemi Weil. Some good news from all of this: By now everyone has been hearing the dealth toll rise and reports of the destruction from the terrorist attacks on the US. These were deplorable acts that we will never forget. But now is a time to look at the other side of the numbers coming out of New York, Washington and Pennsylvania. The sad but somewhat uplifting side that the mainstream media has not reported, yet, the SURVIVAL rates and some positive news about the attacks. ***THE BUILDINGS*** The twin towers of the World Trade Center were places of employment for some 50,000 people. With the missing list of just over 5,000 people, that means 90% of the people targeted survived the attack. A 90% on a test is an "A". ***THE PENTAGON*** Some 23,000 people were the target of a third plane aimed at the Pentagon. The latest count shows that only 123 lost their lives. That is an amazing 99.5% survival rate. In addition, the plane seems to have come in too low, too early to affect a large portion of the building. On top of that, the section that was hit was the first of five sections to undergo renovations that would help protect the Pentagon from terrorist attacks. It had recently completed straightening and blast proofing, saving untold lives. This attack was sad, but a statistical failure. ***THE PLANES*** This Boeing 757 that was flown into the outside of the Pentagon could have carried up to 289 people, yet only 64 were aboard. Luckily 78% of the seats were empty. American Airlines Flight 11- This Boeing 757 could have had up to 351 people aboard, but only carried 92. Thankfully, 74% of the seats were unfilled. United Airlines Flight 175, Another Boeing 757 that could have sat 351 people aboard, but only had 65 people on board. Fortunately it was 81 % empty. United Airlines Flight 93. This Boeing 757 was one of the most uplifting stories yet. The smallest flight to be hijacked with only 45 people aboard out of a possible 289 had 84% of its capacity unused. Yet these people stood up to the attackers and thwarted a fourth attempted destruction of a national landmark, saving untold numbers of lives in the process. ***In Summary*** Out of potentially 74,280 Americans directly targeted by these inept cowards, 93% survived or avoided the attacks. That's a higher survival rate than heart attacks, breast cancer, kidney transplants and liver transplants - all common, survivable illnesses. The Hijacked planes were mostly empty, the Pentagon was hit at it's strongest point, the overwhelming majority of people in the World Trade Center buildings escaped, and a handful of passengers gave the ultimate sacrifice to save even more lives. Pass this information on to those in fear and the media. Don't fear these terrorists. The odds are against them. This was submitted by Joe Vela, Shriners Hospital for Children in Houston. Evelyn Mertens"

As for cold, while not impressed with the last LP, the debut is still fantastic, and I'll withhold judgement. Oh, and Shakedown got reviewed in Kerrang and is getting some advertising as an import album. It got a reasonably good review, but they slagged off HWP (Horror!) and only gave it 3K's (Double Horror!). So they deserve a slap. That is all. Oh, and everyone buy the new Therapy? album......

Jennifer- I found it on buy.com. Thanks again for the info. As it seems to be the topic of conversation Ill add my 2 cents about Cold. I saw the concert in Salt Lake and I think it was just a bad situation all around. It was bad for the fans to start shouting for weezer in the middle of Cold's set. But Cold didn't exactly endear themselves either by repeatedly telling the crowd to "F*** you and F*** you too etc." They were a pretty good band, they just needed to play for a more heavy minded crowd. the lack of respect all around was pretty sad. ....at least the rest of the concert was fun.

Now, i think it sucks that Cold is no longer on the tour, to think that they were getting booed pisses me off. now if you so graciously noticed on the inside of both of their (cold's) CD's they say thank you to Human Waste Project (1997) and Aimee Echo and theSTART (1999). Do not disgrace this band, they have great talent. And if you dont like then, shut your mouth. And by the way theSTART kick ass!

I got 'Shakedown' on import last week and, although I was slightly scared at first (show me a Human Waste Project fan who wasn't?) it was that incredulous move to press repeat that's seen me discovering possibly the most exciting band in new music at the moment! If you're reading this Aimee you need to realise that my girlfriend & I are possibly you're biggest UK fans. By 'biggest' I mean that we totally adore you & rarely a week goes by without E-lux being played a few times. And get this - my girlfriend looks EXACTLY like you. I'm not joking - when we go out she puts her hair in soap-dreads, where's deep red lipstick and pink eye-shadow and the amount of people we fool into believing that she's Aimee Echo is unbelievable. One place gave us free drinks all night! Serious! Anyway, you're album rocks in a Duran-Duran jamming with Kate Bush/ young Madonna kinda way. Sweet!

I wept a tear when cold didn't play the weezer show I saw. A tear of joy, what a buncha crap. Then seeing weezer stand around like a buncha puppets, every little rock star detail polished, only one pinkerton song, no movement, and the feeling that it was how it must be to be at an n sync show. But the start, you are redeemed, Kicked all ass, bass player swung his bass like a yo yo, jumped eight feet in the air. Great voice, great guitar player, and great fills. Keep rockin, and don't let the audience stop you from playing from the heart unlike some rock bands I know.

Wow! I just saw you guy's at the weezer concert last night and was extremely impressed. I wasn't sure how much I would enjoy the concert concidering how much I dislike the relationship between weezer and their crazed fans but when you guys came out I knew I was going to have a good time. It's really weird too, because the way your line up is set up with a girl singer, a bass player, drums, and a guitar player who also plays keyboard is exactly the same as my band! I play guitar and keyboards even though I don't really know how to play keyboards. Very inspiring show. Thanks.

I saw The Start tonight opening for Weezer, and I must say that takes some true courage to open for Weezer, them and Cold were chosen for the job. And the night before tonights show, cold dropped out. They just up and quit the tour. So now The Start has all this weight upon them, with only one cd. They did it great. I usually don't like female lead singers, but she did sound very good. I now find out that I get see them AGAIN, and I didn't even know it. I bought some incubus tickets a week ago, and they are opening for incubus then! That is pretty cool. So I would like to say, that for the extremely hard job for opening up for a band like Weezer, The Start did an extremely good job. There may be some fans doing immature acts of ignorance when seeing an opening band they havn't heard of, which obviously discouraged the band Cold, and I think The Start will become somthing big. Just don't let obnoxious weezer or incubus fans get in the way. Good luck.

you change one, you can change a thousand times. all those skins add up to a monumental edifice of tissue. every now and then though, it is nice to come back and dig through them all, try them all on again and dance around. you know, my friends, that they all do indeed retain that same warmth, to one extent or another. even to the same degree in celsius---for some reason, however, they seem a bit smaller, and stretch to fit. maybe it's because we've grown just that much, my friends, and our bodies can only comfortably accomodate the old for as long as it takes to absorb that sensation, that feeling you get when you smell the sweat of a younger you. a more naive you, rather. i wonder if anyone else sees the difference---maybe not so much in the aroma of their shed skins, but the resonation of their vocal chords, when you hold them up to your mouth, between your thumbs and blow...can you hear yourself calling back? can you remember what you were saying? how about what you saw? can you hold your old eyeballs up to a fidgety lamp like a glass marble and see through an older perspective? i sure can. but i prefer the smell of old skin; there's just something so rich about it, so full of memory and experience, like the rings of an old oak...i have yet to recieve these sensations from anyone else, or any acknowledgement that i am not the only one who is aware of that massive mound of old skin, and i sure as hell don't know anybody who enjoys dressing up in their old selves for a quick romp through the neghborhood, or a jog over the tops of the cynic's skulls everywhere.

I just went to the NEW speakout to see if anyone had actually written anything intelligent there, and aside from erika's post, I was apauled by the crap that was on there. I think my favorite post was from incubus_girl (or something like that) It read, "Is it me or is Jeff Jaegar the hottest guy EVER!? I meen look at him! I LOVE YOU JEFF!!!!" It took me awhile to convince myself that N'SYNC hadn't recruited a new member named Jeff. It's sad that most of the people over there seem to care only about who's the hottest in the band, and not theSTARTS music! Don't get me wrong, everyone in the band is beautiful! But I wish that people would pay more attention to the art that they produced instead of the way that they look. Unfortunately the damn board wouldn't let me post so I couldn't reply to the I LOVE JEFF!!!! comment. But then again maybe it was for the best seeing as how I wasn't going to write anything very nice. I know I've done a lot of senseless whining here, but I'm just afraid that one of my favorite bands is going to be turned into the next N'SYNC by some stupid girls without a life!

The reason that you aren't allowed to give blood if you've recently aquired piercings or tatoos is becuase they say that like 80% of people who get tatoos and peircings end up with hepatitus. Supposedly it's a health risk, but I know plenty of people with tatoos and peircings who have never had hepatitus. I guess it's better to be on the safe side though. I wanted to give blood but they won't let me since I'm 2 months short of being 18. They ignore the fact that I'm living on my own and supporting myself! I was feeling pretty useless though so I'm glad that theSTART put up all those sites that told other ways in which we could help. I really appreciate that!

You know, I'm not too sure why you can't donate blood if you've had tattoo's or piercings within the past 12 months. Maybe because the tattoo needles or piercing needles may or may not have been totally steralized? Maybe because the tattoo ink or metal from the piercing taints your blood for a while? I don't know. But it sucks for me cause I wanted to do something to help on a personal level like that, rather then just give money. But for now I guess I'll just stick with giving money...

Damn, I didn't know about the piercing thing with giving blood. Well, needles scare me anyways, so I wasn't too keen on doing that, anywho. Now, I know I cant. Maybe I will make a donation. Did anyone see the people with the signs of who they were looking for on the news? Oh my god, that had to be one of the most depressings things I have ever seen. What we have experienced here is simply a tragedy.... but now that we know the pain that mass destruction can cause, why the hell would we want to bring that pain on others? Peace is the answer to our problems... (Well, that and theSTART, of course...) I saw theSTART perform on Sunday at Fresno's New Rock 104 Birthday Bash, and WOW.. what an amazing show. I was one of the only people there that even knew who they were.. but they made alot of new fans that day - the line at the signing booth was huge. After every war that we win, what is the first thing that happens when the men and women who fought come home? We have parades. I know it isn't the exact same, but it is the same basic idea. People celebrate defeat. I think the people who say that we need to "blow the shit out of the country that started this" are just as bad. You don't fight fire with fire. Even though it would probably be the best thing to see the person who organized this dead, (hell, even I am for that, sadly) it isn't the right way to think. Maybe if we focused on whoever did this instead of the country he or she is from, we could pull off a conclusion without a war. I was thinking...if we do have a war, would there be a draft? I am 18 next August. God, I don't know what I would do. Every single person I know would be in danger of having to go fight. Think about THAT for a moment...

Hello fellow Heretics- today while in school, some lil cunt arse decided to pull the fire alarm, and scare us shitless- i swear i nearly had a heart attack...i was like, fuck ww3 has commenced. hopefully they're will be no war, because nowadays with every countries technology, it'll be hard to win a war! why kill? isn't this what we are mad at? all those innocent victims dead- i wish i were powerful...i would have done anything to prevail all of this chaos, which has caused so much tragedy, to many! *ryan* babe, i know what you are trying to say, but it wasn't every ________ (place in the ethnicity, i don't want to offend anyone)that was cheering and dancing, they're are some ignorant people whom were. they should be punished, and burning in hell(if there is one). *natile*-your mom is a heroic person, we should all applaud and thank her dearly....thanks mummy! all we can do right now is-donate blood or have some sort of fund-raiser for the victims out there-it's wonderful to see how america unites(too bad, it is seen in such a tragic moment).

I got my mom back today, around 7ish. i feel alot better now...still not good, just better than before. well you get it. Its hard to think about this, im trying to grasp the idea that the city may never be the same. there's still fires, and building #5 is about to fall. There are 300 missing fire fighters. i've always respected them, but now i cant even put into words what i feel towards them! theres only 70something cops missing, but "missing" anyone at this point puts my heart in my throat. I had a strange dream the other night that it was snowing outside and a blond girl (wearing a green fall jacket and shorts)got out of a green mini-van, rang my door bell and told me to call con ed cos there was a hole in the street infront of the house nextdoor to mine. the hole kept getting bigger, i never went outside to examine it because there were always people running near it and then a car fell into it. From where i was standing all i saw was bright orange, i thought it was lava. After that the dream got strange (as if it wasnt already) i turned off my heat (i remember that girl saying something about a boiler or something), i walked into the basement to make sure the floor didnt have holes only to wind up in california driving in a red car with its top down talking to one of my good friends on what looked to be an old school cell phone. I asked if he called con ed yet and he said yeah but lance (who he called vance) from nsync picked up the phone and then called him "david blink-182"...like blink 182 was his last name or something.

anywho, after i woke up to the news my dream was the 2nd thing on my mind. i keep thinking about it and it makes more and more sense. i just wish i knew what the hell it ment when i had the dream (3 or 4 nights ago). sorry for ranting.

Yes,the NyC incident was horrible!my sister was suspected to be dead but she came home and is O.K.but at the same time I can't seek revenge on another country.there are people in these suspected countries that don't have this good life we all have!people forget that we have freedom of speech(notmuch of it anymore!butit's something!),we can pick out what to wear and go home to a home and releax!these people don't have what we have they get bombs thrown at them trying to go to school.familes have nothing to eat no way of living. Also, america drops bombs on these countries all the time for no reason and America just laughs about it like it never happened.no one ever thinks about them.Although I don't justify all those people dying for something they knew nothing about! It's not like America didn't know about Palestinian threats for years about destroying the pentagon unless they got their homeland back!America just laughed it off like it couldn't happen!they thoughtr they were invincible but by yesterday's display America's now shitting in their pants!their solution is bomb them back(theyb still don't exactly know who it is or a reason and already resorting to violence!)all I hear in school is REVENGE!they want everyone killed, they anyone different from them deported or killed and to close off the border(woulden't be america then jackasses!).when are people going to learn you can't solve violence with violence!we need to just UNITE! and fight against all of these unjust governments so we can live in peace!I don't want war it is not the answer!I had to help a poor islamic boy today because he was getting beat up by some racist white power assholes!I luckily got him home safely!(the boy felt nothing but greif for the victims). How does everyone know this other country is all against the U.S it is only a select few that did this horrible act!you can't blame a whole country for a few's actions.how do you know that all of the country dosen't have any personal politics and dosen't wan't their name dragged out with all this .this is the same scenario abunch of innocent people would go down without even knowing what happened(sound familiar!).It suprises me that START fans would want to kill, start war,and continue violence onto others!remember RISE UP! DANCE TO A DIFFERENT BEAT!(R.I.P to all innocent victims!)

does anyone not think it is so weird that this whole thing happened on a day of september 11. the 9th month, the 11th day. look at those numbers together. 911. freaky shit. along with this:
"Nostradamus predict that the end of the world would begin at the turn of the millenium with the burning of the great city

In the City of God there will be a great thunder, Two brothers torn apart by Chaos, while the fortress endures, the great leader will succumb", "The third big war will begin when the big city is burning" - Nostradamus 1654."

turns out my mom will not be coming home tonight. its ok tho, shes out there helping people im very proud of her.

but hey, has anyone put this together? I dont know maybe with the day that today was im actually going crazy, but check this out...

The flights that were hijacked were from United and AA, they were numbered as follows: 11, 93, 175, and 77 11 = Today's Date 9+3 = 12 = Tomorrow 1+7+5 = 13 = Thursday 7+7 = 14 = Friday Hopefully this is a coincidence and the terrorists can't add. but if this is correct there will either be acts of terrorism every day for the next few days or a grand event the last day.

Yeah I know you shouldn't point the finger or the blame- but what about all those bastards dancing around in the street celebrating this? I think we should have done a live conference of use going in there and wiping them out- then us dancing out in the street and laughing about it- you may think its harsh- but how do you think the families of the victims in those planes felt that didn't have any say whether they were going to live or die? This is a very scary situation- because if we do go to war- we are all in jeopardy. Blink 182 got postponed for anyone that is going to the LA Arena show- I don't know bout the Pond show yet, it still says its in tact.

Here is my complain for the day! People at my school were "laughing" today when they saw the news!!!!! They were laughing!!! I don't know how their parents raised them up, how they were able to laugh at a time like this. OH my gosh! I felt sick hearing them just keep on talking about their boring little lives, while thousands of people died already. I don't even know anybody who lives in NY but I still broke into tears. People really need to get a life and realize how serious the situation is. Just in general as a human being show some respect! People at my school are retarded.

this whole thing makes pearl harbor and oklahoma city put together resemble a firecracker in a tin can. who do you just NOT retaliate against something like this? i'm not a gun-freak by any means, and i've never advocated WAR, but...who answers to the murder of 15000 people? i'd like to get bin laden (or WHOever) and shoot them up with fifty hits a day of the most potent kind of LSD in existence, and lock him up in a little room with Cannibal Corpse's VILE album on repeat through speakers in the ceiling. do this for about a month, then let him out. killing a muslim who believes that death will reward him with eternal ecstasy is not the way to "punish" somebody; you have to drive them completely insane.

This may not be my best composition ever made, but it a sentimental one. I had no clue what was going on today- I went to school as always, and all of a sudden I have to write a 5 paragraph prompt on the DISASTER. The thing that crossed my mind was,- If the US were in-fact so strong, how could they let this happen?- Second, How were the terrorist able to board the plane with there weapons?- I think for an answer to this, but I reach my conclusion....THERE IS NO FUCKING EXCUSE FOR THIS MADNESS TO BE HAPPENING! The thing that worries me the most, is that, the two major cities were bombed...NYC and WashingtonDC. LA is the third major city; also all the planes were due in Lax airport. The families of people on the departing plane(s), and the individuals who this has caused pain, sorrow, and lamentation. This is something TRAGIC, my heart goes out to you..may you be strong enough to cope with this/your loss. This day shall be marked down in history! Oh yeah, hopefully the US doesn’t plan to retaliate against the Country who may have had something to do with this......then, that my fellow heretics would be the commencement of World War 3.....may we all be saved!

Yep, condolences to all concerned, icluding people who weren't physically hurt but are shocked by what has happened. Yes it is the shit, but Kelly don't go on about America being the best and strongest etc. That type of talk was what effectively started off the Cuban Missile Crisis and that type of talk reminds me of your dork of a president. If this was the work of Bin Laden, we have to look at why he hasn't done this b4 cos he has always had the means. This attack appears to have been against the Bush administration as well as the innocent American citizen. Let's hope he listens to world advisors when starting the investigation. His dad almost started a World war, lets hope he not trying to finish everything his dad started. Again, very very sorry to all involved, this shit shouldn't happen regardless of what the excuse is. Kelly- I think you said it best, peace, love, and UNITY! All over my campus I am hearing cries of war. When will we learn that violence cannot end violence!! We need to remember the people and the human side of this horrific situation. This is not a political statement, it is a crime against humanity, not the government. This is a situation that will not only affect America but the world. Many people around the world will be suffering due to this. Please remember all the people of the world and do not fill your hearts with feelings of hatred! Hatred is what brought upon this tragedy, and hatred will only do more damage! I understand the feelings of pain and revenge. I too am suffering. I've been crying all day, I don't know whether some of my friends are still with us on this earth or not. But hatred will only lead to more pain and suffering!! We need to PEACEFULLY unite to show whoever did this that it will not bring us down as they hope but only make us stronger and more caring.

Remember when we all were talking about the horrors of driving. Well, today took the cake for me. I was coming back from lunch, driving down the home stretch back to school. There was a VERY slow driver in front of me, and if one thing drives me crazy, it is slow drivers. I pull around him to pass, obviously accelerating to make the move. I was going a tad over the speed limit, and THAT IS WHEN I find out why everyone is going so slow. One of my fellow students has been pulled over by a cop. So, I looked real smooth zooming past everyone, including a cop. I looked right into that man's eyes as I passed, just THEN realizing who he was. I slam on the brakes. I see that he looks a little pissed. I figure, I am not getting a ticket going back to school. So, I slam on my breaks once again and turn into a residential area I have never been to before, only to get VERY VERY lost. Well, as I am pulling out of the area, after searching for a way out for like, 15 minutes, I realize that, wait a minute, the street I am pulling out of IS RIGHT WHERE THE COP IS! So, I sneak into the intersection, not looking who was coming up on me. Big mistake. This huge Silver truck almost smacks right into me. The two kids with me are scared to death cause we almost got hit, and I am scared to death cause A) I am not supposed to have other people in the car and B) I don't want a freakin ticket. So yes, I had to sit through Civics sweating and knees shaking. I am never going out to lunch again.

The VMA's were really dissapointing this year. Granted they're never that good but this year they were just plain BAD! The only highlights were U2's performance and seeing The Ramones. I couldn't believe they had The Ramones there, that was the most exciting moment of the show. Why didn't MTV let them talk though? They'll let a plastic dog (who I must admit was hilarious!) ramble on forever but they won't let The Ramones talk! That just wasn't right.

MOBY!!! aaah! jesus christ my life's ambition now, after reading his little manifesto in the liner notes of "Play" is to, if i ever get rich enough, buy and move into the loft next to his in the east village or wherever the fuck, and roast live goats every night. on a big wooden spit in the middle of my living room, with that thick greasy burning animal-flesh smell wafting into his apartment next door. look out moby, here i come, and i'm bringing all of my staunch NRA buddies with me to party. one of the highlights for me personally, and one of the maybe two or three people there who deserved an award was Alicia Keys. this girl comes out, takes her hat off and BOWS (!), and then sits at her piano and tears into BEETHOVEN (!!), before playing her song. she's got talent, looks, AND dignity. Mudvayne won an award to no applause WHATsoever, but probably gave the most practical and down-to-earth acceptance speech. Wes Borland sang Iron Maiden. the R&B video award was presented with stock footage of two turtles fucking. what else? i know i know, i understand all your objections but to me, the Flaming Shit Awards on MTV are like a horrible trainwreck you see on your way home from work; you KNOW its horrible and tragic, but you just can't bring yourself to look away. or at least i can't.

virtually the same thing happened in austin a few years ago, without actual rioting. it came damn close though; it's funny because it was over the same band with very similar circumstances. SOAD had cancelled TWO austin dates within a three-month span, which was right around when Sugar was being played on heavy rotation locally and they were basically blowing up. i never blamed the band, but apparently a lot of folks did. by the time they scheduled a make-up show, they could have filled the four-thousand capacity Music Hall (where theStart will be playing w/ incubus), but for some reason, it was decided that they would be playing at the barely one-thousand capacity venue La Zona Rosa. it was supposed to be free, which was their first mistake, whoever made that choice. secondly, they couldn't figure out who would get priority as far as people w/ previous dates' tickets. some said yes, and that if you held a ticket to one of the two cancelled shows, then you got to the front of the line. others said no. it appears the others were right. so anyway, about 6 or 7 thousand people showed up, it rained, and every body screamed and yelled and smoked pot and threw beer bottles at security and what not, and then they started letting folks in, one at a time. no riots or deaths or beatings or anything, just thousands upon thousands of drunk pissed-off people who didn't get to see System of a Down. i have to say, though, that being one of the thousand that made it in was really fucking cool, and it was one hell of a show!

hey monica! Great seeing you!! Always glad to meet theStart fans. Did anybody go to the SOAD free show?? Well it wasn't exactly a show, since they didn't even play!!! Oh lol.. I was there across the street on hollywood blvd. Watching the fans running out, then walking in, running out, then walking in. Finally I decided to go get something to eat and the restaurant had this huge tv. So I was like "turn on the news!!!" Guess what! There we were, "breaking news" on channel 7. Then I went outside because the store's owner closed her door, she thought it was too dangerous. So I got outside, because my stupid friend wanted to go back and see what's going on. hahhahaha.. wow.. this can only happen in LA. It reminded me of the Rage Against the Machine show last year at the democratic convention. Remember that?? wow.. I was glad I was there today.

jamie's hand in that photo makes me think of those Ripley's Believe It or Not case files about those one in two hundred and sevety five million people whose hangnail gets so bad that the afflicted finger actually explodes across the cuticle in a bloody mess. roughly translated those numbers mean that this happens to an estimated twenty to twenty two people every year on every continent, in every socioeconomic condition, any ethnic or congenital background, and with no pattern whatsoever to indicate a specific cause to the strange reaction. the CDC apparently possess case study files on some of the documented victims, but have no intention on concentrating any funding into an effort to search out and indentify, and to hopefully even eleminate any one viral or bacterial cause of which we've been heretofore unaware.

Seeing theSTART AGAIN for the first time, thats easy. At the NY show i got there 45 min after they opened the door and theSTART were already done with their set! But i got to hang out with them.

Im in the same boat when it comes to seeing titanic (seriously, no pun intended). I was actually forced to watch it by a then-boyfriend. I had no intrest in seeing it, so even if i may have enjoyed it (other than the part when leonardo dies) my mind was set on not.

it takes three hours of nothing to do with the ship sinking to get to that point though; in the mean time, you get to see one genuinely awesome shot of a man hitting the prop on his way down to the water right before the whole damn thing snaps in half as if it were american-made

hey now...careful...how can you knock a flick like What's Eating Gilbert Grape? i mean, honestly? i don't see where, not knowing at the time it was made where the various cast members' careers were going to go, it could be percieved as a bad film. i could see mediocre, but i don't buy into this lets-all-kill-leonarthy mcdaprio-or-whatever-his-name-is, because i form no biases based on reaction to the film itself. i thought even the beach was slightly better than average, when pitted up against the other flicks that came out at its time. no bones about it, no bones no bones
kt
-
oh - and jeepers creepers is quite a disappointment. i suggest you wait till video.
hyp again
-
kt - and i respect your opinion. now i'll tell you why i refuse to watch that movie. first off - pansy ass leonardo dicapro just ruins any movie. except for when he acts like his true self *hence* what's eating gilbert grape. second - all the hype surrounding the movie turned me off. nor did i want to spend almost 3 hours sitting there just waiting for the lovely 5 minutes of when leo's character finally dies. call me crazy but a lot of the time when hollywood runs out of ideas on what kind of movie to make next and picks up a story based on real life - it's usually killed. i was obsessed with the titanic story when i was a kid, but by the time that movie came out i had outgrown my obsession. nor was i about to go out and watch some cheesy ass love story that drags on and on till the ship fucking sinks. call me crazy - but that's just my opinion.
hypnaughtika <hypnaughtika@yahoo.com>
-
why would ANYONE in their right mind REFUSE to see titanic? who would ever voluntarily deprive themselves of such an awesome experience? such a fantastic sensory whirly-gig about a great big boat and the boy (and girl) that loved [in] him? What ruined titanic for me, my friends, was not leowhatever-his-italian-name-is, nor was it james cameron's pretentious and often overwraught melodrama sequencing throughout, and you all know what? it wasn't the fact that none of it was true that bothered me either. i could deal with billy zane..i could DEAL with kate winslet and bill fucking paxton; what i just couldn't sit through, though, with any semblance of comfort WHATSOEVER was the final scene in which that old bag throws that fucking rock overboard and it's lost forever in the void. WTF?!?! what about bill fucking paxton's grant money? what in god's name is going on THERE?! how much dough did bill fucking paxton's character have to cough up just to get out there and look for this thing, before he finally found out, which must occur, i'm assuming, after the film's closing credits and life goes on. and another thing! kathy bates was heinously miscast as the "unsinkable" molly brown, because the plain, incontrovertible plum fact of it is, my friends, is that you simply cannot have kathy bates on your fucking movie unless she's in a leading role. fact! FACT i tell you. Leonard Maltin is so full of shit, my friends, that it's unfathomable. i read his critiques in our store-copy of his 1997 movie encyclopedia, and i just want to violently heave everywhere. all over his stupid book. where was i? oh yeah, titanic! so yeah whatever, y'know? cameron's a pompous ass ("lets all have a moment of silence for the 1200 souls lost that night...now we're going to go and drink until dawn!...i'm KING OF THE WORLD"*raises trophy*) and leonarsomething-or-other is now a lurid recluse because of that film, and no one can figure out or get over kate winslet's body, i honestly didn't think titanic was so horrible a flick. but that's just...you know, my opinion and shit.

First off, KT...dude, you crack me up. I can read one line of your messages as I scroll down and I know it's you. The last one you wrote I particularily (sp?) enjoyed. Second, you all need to go to www.cadaverinc.com Oh my god, it has to be the coolest site I have ever been to. I guess the band Cadaver, Inc. decided to make a joke website featuring corpse removal, etc, and they are all being investigated by the Norway Special police or whatever. You guys need to see the site before it gets taken down. Just remember, it IS a joke. But like, you can call their "hotline" and actually talk to someone who "works" for them. I called, thinking it would be a recording or whatever, and when the guy picked up, I got scared and hung up. It is super weird, but so INTERESTING! -Alex

showstoppers video is now equipped with a wonderful knick-knack known to the likes of you folk as caller ID. before i even pick up the telephone now i can run their phone number through the database to discern whether or not they have outstanding balances in late charges on their accounts or how often they rent or even if they rewinded their last movies. i've even started to leave memos on customer accounts describing any beligerence or ill video store etiquette. The following is a customer "grading rubric" if you will, to guage just how you will be handled here. infractions are logged in the customer account memos as points for each: 1)bringing seventeen squealing cub scouts and renting eleven flicks, 2)asking if it might have been Cast Away or the Mexican that some other customer just returned to me every time some one drops their flicks off, 3)asking to use the restroom and not flushing, 4)asking if their seventeen squealing cubscouts can use the restroom (and then not flushing), 5)complaining about the film that's being "previewed" by my coworker and/or myself on our single television which is perched atop the soft-drink refridgerator, 6)taking the last of the minute made orange sodas from said machine, memtioning the dreaded "B" word on the premises, no matter what the context, 7)asking if the popcorn in the GODFORSAKEN popcorn machine is fresh, 8) reading aloud the backs of every film case you pick up, 9) asking me the question "what's good?" as if i'm fluent in your tastes and standards and know all of what you have and have not seen, 10)complaining about the amout of sex in movies these days and then renting your children the most graphically violent motion pictures ever made, 11)calling every fifteen minutes from home to ask if your desired film has come back yet, 12)the utterance of any snide or sarcastic remark pertaining to my job as a video store clerk and just how much responsibility i maintain in said position, 13)denying your late charges (two and a half years at the counter of a videostore has equipped me with unparallelled bullshit-sensing capabilities), 14)having your little teenage mall creature run in and ask me for any of the following: Bring It On, 10 Things I Hate About You, She's All That, American Pie, Loser, Down to You, Josie and the Pussycats, Get Over It, Save the Last Dance, Head Over Heels, or any other film exhibiting any of the other "actors" you would find therein, 15) attempting to convince me in any way that there is artistic merit in any of the films listed above, 16) complaining about "the smell in here", 17)using our copy machine to make four or five copies and then sliding me a credit card, 18) sliding me a credit card for anything other than late charges over thirty-dollars (before, of course, i tell you that we don't take plastic), 19) writing me hot checks, 20)Assuming for even a few fleeting seconds that you could out-criticize me when it comes to any film, and that your taste supercedes mine in any way, even ones i have not seen, because very few people alive have seen as many movies as i have, and those few people are either video store clerks themselves or quadripalegic. And last but not least, my friends, it is important to know that all "professional critics" are completely full of shit, and that nothing they say is valid because it takes getting paid to perform a task that needs no monetary compensation to inflate one's ego and alter one's vernacular (don't ever use the term "avant-garde" in any sentence related to the critique of any film to me, or you will be harshly reprimanded) to the extent that they could ever believe, beyond any stretch of the imagination, that they have anything on me what...so...ever...i love my job.

i don't KNOW! that's just it. that's WHY i'm obsessed. with OJ it was just like...ok, so theyre dead and all the speculation is over whether or not he did it. with this, on the other hand, someone has completely vanished. making somebody disappear off the face of the earth without a FUCKING TRACE is a very difficult thing to do nowadays. something like 85 percent of all missing persons cases are solved and closed within the timeframe she's been missing. its just...WHERE IS SHE?!?!

Man, I honestly really liked Aaliyah. She was so talented, and such a beautiful woman. I watched her diary, and was seriously impressed on how she has such an awesome attitude about the things she did. And she was open to other forms of music, as well. The world really lost a talented person. 22 years old, man. RIP.

Well, Hi Jen, Hi Bronagh, and thanks Mikey. I'm just back after a 50 Hour party at a flat near me. Marijuana and Absinthe played a large part. Has anyone ever seen a Manga Video entitled "General Chaos"? Very trippy.

I didn't know about Aaliyah. And for once I have to say, forget anyone trying to act all underground and "Oh, I hate pop" and all that, she was an incredibly talkented artist, and it's a damn shame.

Oh, and yes, GARY CONDIT SHOULD BURN IN HELL!!!!!. I wonder if the cops will find him in a bathtub out back, having scrawled the words "Mummy, i've been a bad bad boy on the wall in his own blood.... Just a thought... :o)

I haven't been here in soooo long! It's been even longer since I checked out the new Speakout board, but I'm going to have a look now to laugh at all the girls with raging hormones! Malcolm - I was hoping they'd support Weezer in Europe too (even if it meant going to Glasgow to see them) but I doubt it'll happen. I'd prefer to see them headlining in Dublin anyhow! =) I need to update my fansite, I've been slacking! I have loads of stuff to add...ack! Damn my lazy ways!

So....a few non important things I'd like to post right now. First of all....god it's been ages since I've posted here. It's about time I did. Second of all.....god I am s0o0o0o excited for theSTART! So many damn things going on for them! I cannot believe Alien Ant Farm is an opening act for the MTV VMA's...maybe next year theSTART will be! I swear. I am moving back to California in NOVEMBER (as I try to hold back from wetting myself) so I hope theSTART starts playing the clubs in Hollyweird by then. I am so excited. I AM SICK OF ARIZONA! Jesus. Okay and one more thing.....I know most people here probably don't like Aaliyah, but I am very upset cause I just found out she died in a plane crash. How awful. Her carrear had JUST begun and she was so tallented and beautiful. God I am still in shock...

Hello Heretics. Im glad that some good new fans have come to the old speak out. i attempted talking on the new one, simply because the old speakout, everyone seems to know eachother and talk to just eachother and i still dont know anyone, but on the new board, there are a disgraceful ammount of posts about "how hot so n so is". Not that you can really expect much frum most Sugar Ray fans, but its splendid to see the tour got a few cool new fans. if anyone wants to talk, i encourage u to e mail me! no one i know understands who the START is, and im anxious to speak about them!
SteFanie RaYna <raynarain@aol.com>

Ok, so maybe I'm not quite an old skool fan but the other speak out is confusing and the only thing that people are writing about is "hotties" in the band so I felt like I was on an N'SYNC site. I just heard of theSTART a few months ago when I was dragged to a Sugar Ray concert by my best friend. At the time I lived in the "wonderful" town of Sierra Vista, AZ where the only bands that we have ever gotten are Foreigner and Wayne Chung. I figured if all else failed I could harass Mark Mcgrath for being a sell out. I dreaded the concert for the whole 6 hours that we stood in line so my friend could see Mark up close. However when theSTART came on all of my ill feelings automatically went away. Those six hours were worth it!They immediately bacame one of my favorite bands. They are amazing!! It took me almost two months to find their c.d. and I think that is disgraceful! We need to spread the word about theSTART. I do any chance I get. The band is great and they really deserve it. Are they ever coming back to Arizona? I need another fix!

theSTART offers little variety in heavy punk offering

By Andrew Shaw Staff reporter July 26, 2001

theSTART "SHAKEDOWN!" Geffen 2001 2 of 5 Stars
In the same musical vein as poser-futuristic bands like Orgy, theSTART's debut album, "SHAKEDOWN!," blends late '70s synthesizer-laden new wave with a heavier modern sound.

Although many similar elements exist between Orgy and theSTART, including a mechanically exact rhythm section, sweeping buzzsaw guitars and prominent synthesizers, theSTART has an original sound derived from the band's underground past.

Formed from members of the defunct Human Waste Project and Snot, theSTART has an extreme punk feel, fueled by the raspy and unbridled vocals of Aimee Echo.

But to say that putting together components from the '70s, '80s and '90s makes your band's sound "from the future" is as absurd as the Jetsons' world of flying cars and robot maids.

theSTART will only appeal to a small audience searching for a flat-lining adrenaline rush. By the time track three spins around, the listener has experienced everything the band has to offer.

The remainder of the album is painfully unrelenting, pushing forward in the same tempo and heavy punk feel until it stops being energizing and becomes downright laborious.

The following story if a complete work of fiction. Any resemblence to actual events or people is entirely coincidental: Once upon a time, in a nation where the people never quite knew how to put up with themselves or eachother, an obscure leader from an obscure state (we’ll call him Senator Jimmy Shoe, IV) got himself into a whole heap of trouble over a young lady who stapled his papers, and goshdarn it, he just plum didn’t know what to do about it. It seemed ole Senator Shoe had had his plenty of women on the side, but one of them up and disappears without a trace. Much to Senator Shoe’s dismay, this lil lady happened to go and tell her family about their trapsin’ and cavortin’ around together. Now when this got out, it really spelled trouble for ole Senator Shoe. Serious t-r-o-u-b-l-e. So after about three weeks or so the Law come lookin’ around his place huntin’ for clues and askin’ whereabouts she might be. Ole Senator Shoe even lied to the Law, oh, about their trapsin’ and all. When the lil lady’s family found out, they were might and justly pissed off---and demanded Senator Shoe be hooked up to some ‘lectric mojo can tell if’n or not he’s lyin’ about anything. All sortsa hooplah got thrown up over that one…they got to debatin’ nonstop on six CNN channels over whether’re not he’s a lyin’ sinnin’ murderer. So a special team of ‘private’ with a capital P investigators got together and gave him a puddypololymagraph, giving the results to the police as passing. Little did the Law know that ole Senator Shoe hired the so-called private with a capital P investigators to rig the whole thing, thinking it would throw them off and clear his name…but that didn’t happen. Over the passing weeks, all those nutty newsycasters on all those nutty newsy channels talked about for hours every night, until it seemed the American folks just plum got tired of all the talk, and after a while, nobody mentioned that lil lady or Senator Joe Shoe the Fourth for a reeeaal long time. It wasn’t until months and months after all the talk died away that over the period of a single week, seventeen women came forward claiming to have been involved with ole Shoe at one point or another, a few of them even had babies as proof. Seems all those lil ladies had just had it with the silence, and came out with stories of bizarre slavery rings and massive tax frauds and what all those Washin’ton bigwigs call “budget-surplus” thefts, and all sortsa crazy, sinful awfulness. Once the evidence of the horrid treasonous crimes linking Shoe to the lil lady surfaced, the media went completely ape-shit. The final showdown of the story was a dewy Sunday, when at around seven in the AM the news first broke. Shoe woke up for his shave and shower right around the same time the federal task force strapped on their kevlar vests and loaded their heckler and koch fully automatic 9mm assault pistols. After he slipped on his velvet red bathrobe, he heard his fax machine erupt. When he went down to the lounge to get it, he discovered hundreds of faxes which had been pouring incessantly throughout the night, all with pertinent and vital developing information on his legal situation. The last several faxes simply asked if he was watching TV, and that if he wasn’t, and he was still standing there to do so, that he might want to turn it on. On his way to the living room he put two English Muffins into the toaster. When he turned the TV on he paused for a moment at the awkward similarity between the apartment lobby on the screen and the one in his building. Before he could shake the thought off, he recognized his doorman. All around on the live CNN report were black-clad, armed to the teeth agents pressing his floor button in the elevator and running toward his floor fire exit in the stairwell. Right before the Law busted in on ole Senator Shoe, the English Muffins popped from the toaster all backened and smoky. The feds found him in his bedroom a few spits later, on his bed with his brains spread out like strawberry jelly across the ceiling above him, and a silver .357 magnum in his left hand. Next to his bed the night-table drawer was pulled out and lying on the floor; under the box of Remington .357 magnum bullets, from which only a single round is missing, lay stacks and stacks of polaroids, and video tapes and audio recordings and journals and diaries explaining to the very hilt of it all what really happened to that little lady he trapsed around with.

Hey kt, well, I've smoked on and off for a while, and you really don't wanna know how much pot I do at University. If your best friend lives next to a dealer...well..you can guess. I sing too, and not too badly. But as it's only been one off gigs, I just learn to take it real easy the week before. I actually lost my voice the morning of a gig before, and believe me, the combination of red wine, pineapple juice and throat pastilles works wonders.

Oh, and by the way. I've just finished a three day long partying spree. I was drinking and smoking from 11am friday till 6pm Sunday, when I went to sleep. It was....interesting.....

i smoked a pack of reds for the past two years, in addition to about two or three (sometimes four or five) bowls of marijuana EVERY fucking day. i started getting these spells about three weeks (goddamn disturbed SUCKS) ago where i get this severe pain in my chest that lasts for about thirty minutes where i have to breath really shallow and i can't inhale to take a deep breath. they always last a short time and go away. i figured once this started happening, i might as well quit. right now i have to say that the gum is working just enough to keep me from going completely insane, and i guess that will do. i actually have a bottle of those pills; my pops tried quitting with those but gave up, and never used his prescription. so should i munch some of those too? or just stick with the gum? what's the best call here? i was looking at some photo of Aimee and Scott both smoking in the live photo section, and i cant figure out how they can do that---i'd fucking die. especially Aimee, having to belt it out every goddamn night. how does ANYone smoke and sing or even play in a touring band? how is that anatomically POSSIBLE?

KT, i don't post much on this board, just usually read up on what people have to say about the START, but i thought i'd respond to your smoking habit (seeing as how i love your sarcasim in your posts-you tell stories like me). how long have you smoked? my brother is in the same boat you're in and he's smoked for 5 years and he's 21. he tried all that stuff to, even the patches. he's on the pill right now, and that's the only thing that's helping even a LITTLE bit. so i say make a trip to the doc's and see what they say!:) i'm glad i never took up that habit! ~jacinda~

alright my friends...i decided today, after the past month's worth of severe chest pains, to quit smoking. i thought qutting pot a week ago after two and a half years of the two to three time a day habit would be enough, but the pains are just as bad. at noontoday i bought a thirty dollar box of this christ for saken gum, and a pack of american spirit herbal cigarettes. i went to a coffee shop and smoked half of one of those before some customer at the next table called the police from her cellular phone. apparently those things smell like pot when they're burning. that was one disappointed police officer, and that was one genuinely shitty-tasting cigarette. the gum burns, my friends! it buuuuuuuurrrns!!!

I like No Doubt?..why?--Fiona there is some sort of conspiracy...lol!--theSTART shall not be falling angels like start,the..or whatever they were called.
-erika

Oh God - just browsing the Mtv2 website a second a go, and under the bio for theStart (or, 'Start, the') they've got a pic of the band, and then underneath it says: "This Icelandic pop-rock group was formed in 1980 by vocalist Petur Kristjansson and guitarist Kristjan Edelstein. Enlisting the services of Eirikur Haukson (guitar, vocals), Nikulas Robertson (keyboards), Jon Olafsson (bass, vocals) and David Karlsson (drums), they signed to the Steinar label the following year. They debuted with En Hun Snyst Nu Samt ; a predictable collection of soft-rock anthems with Icelandic vocals. They disappeared into oblivion, after representing Iceland in the Eurovision Song Contest." WTF!! Is this some sick conspiracy that would have us believe that theStart are from LA and formed just a couple of years ago, when in fact they ARE from Iceland, have been together since the 80s and entered the Eurovision Song Contest!! answers on a postcard...

this was from cdnow.commembers of Orgy were spotted at the Depeche Mode show at Staples Center in L.A. on Tuesday (Aug. 14), where singer Dave Gahan was seen shacking his !#&!! to the crowd (and we mean, he literally turned his back to the audience and shook his !#&!! like it was his job to shake that thing!) at least 14 times. But, hey, who's counting?! so did anyone see orgy at the show?

Inside the CD case, it contains a little booklet that features the pictures of Tony Hawk, Bucky Lasek, etc. Some of the bands on there are like static-x "this is now", Disturbed "down with the sickness" Stereomud "pain, Xzibit, Wu-tang Clan, etc. It's very cool. You guys will definitely enjoy watching the videos. I was going "wow" the whole time. hahaha..

Well the night started off pretty badly. One of the people that was susposed to come to the show with me got into a car accident a few days ago, so she couldnt come. Doors opened at 7, i got there at 7:45 i MISSED THEM!!! (im still upset about that). I coulnt afford to buy a shirt otherwise i couldnt get home, but i guess its ok cos i made my own. We were standing in front of the merch booth, just about to leave when i see Scott (thankyouthankyouthankyouthankyouthankyouthankyou!!!) and the manager who then took us backstage. When we got there they said Aimee had went outside for a walk, so we went to the loading dock and stood there for a min and all of a sudden the band (minus scott) walked in, and the night just turned around from there. I dont know who's sweeter Aimee or her mom :o) You guys are awsome, i love you even more now. I just wanted to say THANK YOU!

Tiger Army was okay. Like the show was sold out when we got out of the car. So my two friend just wondered around there for about twenty minutes and found their own tickets for fifteen bucks.. then like me and my friend's sis didn't have the ticket. So they were helping us finding tickets. So you know how there is that street corner by the Troubadour on the left side. yeah.. one of the opening band's guitar player was unloading his amp and guitar. But we didn't know so we just asked him if he sells tickets. Then I was helping him bring the guitar in. So he ended up putting me and friend's sis on their guest list. Very sweet guy. I am very grateful. I went to the show, because my friend from chicago wanted their pictures and autographs. I actually don't listen to the band. But yeah.. I ended up talking to the singer and stuff. Hot guy by the way. lol.. Erika- We'll definitely have do to the band thing next summer. It'll be great. yeah.. I am totally gonna be at the Palace's show. So everybody better be there!!!!! PS- I hit the bushes today while I was practicing how to drive. Very bad moment right there. My mommy's car is fine.

alright i just watched "P. Ditty" 's music video and i am pissed beyond my own belief. we're talking about the fucking warpath here people. why is it soooo cool to be rich now? why do i feel so cheap? how can ANYone relate to a lyric like "Don't worry bout writin' rhymes, i write CHECKS"....what the FUCK?!? maybe that particular line gets to me because i don't even have a damn bank account. maybe thats it. but somebody answer me this---what's with all these fucking...ben stiller, shaq, snoop, dave navarro, ice-cube...yeah P, yeah man, i'm SURE you're just great friends with all these people, i'm SURE you still call and keep in touch with them all, i'm so fucking SURE you kick back a few beers with travis from blink-one-eighty-spew every fiday night...i mean what the fuck? this is like name-dropping at it's absolute worst. how much of that video's budget do you think he spent on paying these people to appear? see...if i were going to do anything similar, as founding member of Corky Smackwaggle's Tall Fisherman Trio featuring one-legged virtuoso Banjo Bobby Brenham and the impeccably righteous Rev. "Toothless" Larry Cobb, i would have the following appear in my video: Jimmy Carter, the guy who plays Barney the dinosaur, appearing without the purple suit, the energizer bunny, the model from the Dolce & Gabanna ad in the people magazine issue i thumbed through while waiting for the person ahead of me in line at the gas station, Roky Erikson from the 13th floor elevators, all of Fat's Domino's surviving children, danny boneduc-(oh what the hell, why not the whole goddamn partridge family?), the osmonds, yasser arafat, john lydon's head on a stick, that woman from the snapple commercials a few years back, willie nelson, Patty Hearst (!), the West Memphis Three (if i could arrange some sort of temporary thing with their prison warden) and last and of course least, P. Ditty himself, flailing about in a tank of hungry barracuda.

This be Russel G, the Mack Daddy of Party-Pig Plus. This is that band you told me to check out, right? I can't listen to the songs cuz my computer speakers blew out and i don't know where the headphone jack is on this thing. Oh well. It looks like theyre coming with incubus. I don't like incubus. if the tickets are like thiry bucks or something you're going to have to find someone else to go with.

wtf are you doing here? david? is that you? russ? who is that? only four fucking people know that story....

That deserves explanation, Nick! Once, a younger, substantially more naive kidneythief ventured with his esteemed associates *ahem* into Austin's Highland mall with 4 unwrapped, unstuffed whole chickens. Got those grimy nasty things out of an HEB dumpster across the street. We didn't know exactly what we were going to do with them, until we walked into the main junction of the mall and realized we were on the second floor. 2 chickens were pitched down into the wishing fountain below (which caused quite a splash, i must say, and soaked 2 nearby kiosk vendors) and the other two were rolled like bowling balls into the Victoria's Secret. When we were finally apprehended by the stetson-wearing secutrity guard, we were informed that if we ever felt like setting foot inside Highland mall or any Victoria's Secrets, we might as well walk straight into the Travis Co. Juvenile lock-up.

A couple things...first off theSTART PITTSBURGH FANS!! Listen up! If you check the tour dates for the next tour, notice there is not Pittsburgh date...So heres my plan...Oct 21st they are scheduled in Cleveland, so in order to satisfy our need to see theStart AND Incubus i decided I will drive anyone who wants to go and doesnt have a ride (max of 4 people). So if you can get the ticket, and spare maybe $1 for gas, I will be glad to take you as long as there are only 4 people and you are ABLE to go! meaning, i will get no shit from parents, girlfriends, boyfriends, etc! If you would like to get a spot in on this, email me. Second off...question time...who would everyone here like to see theStart tour with?

the popcorn machine at my video store is quite a site to behold. an ancient relic harking back to the days before microwaves, the windows are glazed over with an incredibly thick layer of something...quite possibly oil. the same odd brown crusty/gooey substance is found in frightening amounts, crusted over the popper mechanism itself. we're talking at least thirteen years that i know of, thirteen years worth of crusted over layers of oil and butter that all eventually harden and turn the same amber hue. at least thirteen years that i know of and this machine's never been cleaned. it's such a fantastic marvel of human achievement and technological progression that i firmly believe the old hulking glass and metal thing belongs in the smithsonian institute. I think i found the flux capacitor on the underside of the sheet metal plate that covers the "warming bulb", and i think it's activated when the butter amount for one batch is of exponential proportions. i could very well be sent flailing thousands of years into the past with this old archaic popcorn machine, and i think tomorrow night at work is the perfect time for a test run.

Just feel the urge to check in on the forum to say hi. I am still listening to "Shakedown" pretty much non-stop. I love it so much. It has been a big help with my music I have been doing, just because I hear something brilliant and it makes me want to create that much more. Anyway, I plan on having the cd done in October some time and anybody from this message board who wants a copy for free can let me know in the future just so I can get my music out there. My sister who is doing vocals is rockin' and everything else is done by me on computer, synth and guitar. Anyway, peace and love to all. Keep supporting The Start, they need to hit it big, I can't take all the crap that makes it big in music now.

Mary Purple sits on up the lobe of my ear like a wasp on a perpetually static basis, whispering things in the middle of the night that tickle the funny bones in my toes. I believe the third knuckle on each toe contract involuntarily when she does so because of the physiological effect of lying down horizontally for an extended amount of time to the point where the center of gravity focused in certain parts of your body shift, and your body shifts with them. A nerve spasm resulting from an alien tone being recieved and then not properly interpereted is another theory; however, there is no known technology with which to even begin to study or attempt to decipher the bizarre subliminal capabilities rumored to exist within the layers of those tones. They were supposedly heard once by an intern at S.E.T.I. who was playing tetris on his PC and forgot to load the new tape to record the very brief but intense transmition. He was said to have tracked where the signal came from, but only disclosed that it could've come from "anywhere but Sirius," to which no one could bring themselves to reply. He died from exposure in a bunker somewhere in Nevada. Mary Purple is more than fully aware of all this, and tutors me in my research and development projects involving frequent attempts to clone her and further the many causes we do and sometimes do not stand up for. "I don't have to stand on a soapbox to bitch" she says, and in that she professes the pure and unadulterated truth, around which our very lives orbit day after day. Mary Purple has the best legs i've ever seen. Her skin is completely immune to even the harshest ultra-violet rays, as she was baptised in such brilliant light at birth and was thusly capable of withstanding colors no other creature could even fathom. We entwine the roots of trees as a prank on mother nature. or so she tells me, but sometimes she's up to things beyond my own imaginings. She does not look to good in photographs. In fact, she does not even appear in them at all. the only known photographic documentation of her existence is an old print of the Hibernia bank hold-up in 1974. She had worked as a teller there for several years, and had also been, coincidentally, a big Patt Hearst fan. After the incident she quit and joined the Simbionese Liberation Army and helped smuggle arms, which they purchased in astounding quantities from a pot-bellied Lybian entrepreneur. Of course he denied it all to for many years, you know. But that he is no longer a bother. Mary Purple had his eyes, hands, and eardrums removed so he would live the rest of his life without ever knowing where he was or who he was with or what he was doing or essentially anything at all about his physial state. She knows how much things like that bother ordinary folk, and she knows how to take care of certain business. Mary Purple's dependencies run from Vicks menthol chloraseptic spray to her therapist, whom, she claims, is a talking fungus that grows in massive quantities under the larger boulders of Mars. "Once NASA lands," she says with a grin, "the party's alllll over..." If Mary Purple ever in her life touched a telephone, every electronically linked device on the surface of the planet would fail, and we would be sent spiralling backward aeons into the dark ages. But that bores Mary Purple. To the degree that every time I sit at any sort of word processor and attempt to clickity click her down she does that shampoo-commercial hairtoss thing that is absolutely out of control. And never fails.

Corky Smackwaggle's Tall Fisherman Trio is complete! a vocalist, a fiddler and a banjo-player. What do yall think? we're doing heavy metal songs blue-grass style. i don't know about any of you folk, but something in me just needed to hear Smoke on the Water on the banjo. the chorus is a sort of garbled scratchy yodel, but it sounds fantastic. as Corky Smackwaggle's Tall Fisherman Trio featuring one-legged virtuoso Banjo Bobby Brenham and the impeccably righteous Rev. "Toothless" Larry Cobb, we have yet to find any clubs interested in hosting our little hoe-down, but soon, my friends, soon we will conquer our turf, which is south Lamar all the way to the Backroom, which is somewhere along the lower recesses of Austin's River-side. we will be heard!

If I was Bill Gates I would at least try to attempt to do something cool instead of just worrying about what kind of software I would come out with next... have some fun you stupid bastard, he could at least afford a haircut don't you think? But if I had all his money I think I would put together some huge charity concert and have all the bands that I've ever wanted to see... I would be able to pay the bands that were like I don't know enough money to say hell yeah... I would have to use the greed factor just a tad he he heh. On another note- let me see if I can afford PM5k first of all. I think I should be able to. Talk to you all later.

alright...here's a question for you all; the ultimate longing fantasy question: "If i were Bill Gates, i would..."...now, i don't mean the actual physical realization of Bill Gates, i mean the fact that he's worth something like 75+ billion dollars. In his own, private bank account. that, my friends, is enough money to buy every living human being on this planet a life-time supply of McDonalds Chicken McNuggets. what would you do with that money? that kind of figure grants you the capacity to do anyhting you want. after a lot of thought and consideration, i decided that if i had that much money at my disposal, i would walk into what ever NASA department is researching solar-sail technology, the kind of hardware that would allow a man-made vessel to travel at amazing speeds by simply sailing along the rays of the sun. I would walk into that place with a check in my hand and say "hey! who here's lookin at this solar sail shit?" and i would write them a check for sixty billion dollars to build me a spaceship that could do that, just sail around space on the light from the sun. No expense would be spared. i would set sail, get off this old rock and just float around for the rest of my life...

If you and Erika are on the way I'll transport you guys. We'll see if I can afford to go or not lol. Happy Birthday Ellen!!!

EMILY I'd love you forever for that poster!!! I am distraught though, Professional Murder Music and My Ruin are having a concert that same night!! But I already have my Weezer/Incubus tickets and I haven't seen Weezer since they toured with No Doubt a couple of years ago... sniff.. but I so wanted to see Tarrie. Maybe they will realize they picked a bad day to do the show and reschedule it!! They've done it before. Where do you live Emily maybe I can come and pick it up. We should all have a heretic day where we all mallrat or something. If any of your are interested, PM5k is having a show soon, the tickets are on sale 8/25 for the Palladium... I am not sure the date. Metal M- you should feel privelidged that you are just a select person to have that cd while other people in the UK are dying without it.. when they do finally come you'll be front and center and stick out like none other before. Emily don't feel bad the first time I went driving my driving instructor blasted Jesus Talk Radio-- I didn't even think there was such a station- he scared me royally- I learning nothing from him... he just kept making me drive around the block-- I thought I was going to die when I was driving with him. Good luck guys on getting your license.. it's the first step towards freedom (sort of)... Lori how have you been? Yeah I was just staring at it and I was like wow-- they are in magazines... and big... I am proud. I've been there since theSTART and watched them grow and its cool to see all of it happening!!! Okay, first off, this is not meant as an insult to Puke at all. That guy is super awesome and very nice. But go to the Puke Report, and click on the Tattoo link to see everyone gettin their tattoo. TheSTART are a really good band. I went to the show here in Salt Lake with some friends at Trolley Square. It is a small place, and it was a free show. The guys were having problems 'cause they were using their bus (I don't remember its name, though it was a girl's one) to power their amps and other equipment. Aimee tried to sing "Gorgeous" unsuccesfully because the equipment and microphone did not work fully. Though they were unable to play, I had the opportunity to meet them afterwards, 'cause they stayed right there, hanging out with us, the little people. Aimee even wrote on my belly! Hey Aimee! If you read this, lots of kisses from the blue haired freak in Salt Lake. I will buy your CD as soon as I have money, and I find a freaking store that sells it. TheSTART are going to be big someday, and I'll be proud to say I knew them since the beginning... Or a little after the beginning... Have fun!!!

I was very sad to see in the puke report that The Start has not had amazing receptions everywhere they go. I can't stand Sugar Ray and Uncle Cracker and have no idea why they get praised when brilliant bands like The Start do not. But it is just a matter of time before people catch on. I love the cd. I haven't felt this way about a band for a good 5 years. I hope they are in Minneapolis soon without Sugar Ray. I tell everybody about them trying to spread the word. 10 people at the radio show? What the heck? I would of done anything to be at that show, ahhhhhhhhh!!!!!!! Peace and love to everybody on this board.

i had the most bizarre dream last night: i was sitting on a wooden bench in a faceless green park. it was very sunny and warm outside with comfortable cool breezes and a lot of bird chirping and oh cheery day. there were a lot of families and couple and other patrons, jogging picnicing and going about their sunny afternoons without a worry in the universe. i was reading a book. i looked up several times to spectate with the commonfolk a mime who had appeared out of nowhere to dance and flap and flail around and poke his finger into peoples' ears and such. he was wearing a black and white vertically striped longsleeve shirt and black highwatering trousers. he wore rainbow suspenders and a long, fat tie that had a giant exclamation point on it. he had on a beret, white face paint, red lipstick and cirlces on his cheeks, and big black suprised-looking eyebrows painted on his forhead. he was wearing white gloves. i watched him for about thirty minutes while he bounced around and did the crazy kind of shit that mimes do, and then suddenly we made eye contact and he stopped what he was doing and very melodramatically stared back at me. at this point we had everyone in the park's attention. not once changing his expression from a blank ear-to-ear grin, he danced right up to me, plugged his ear with one hand, pulled a silver .357 magnum revolver from his pocket with the other and shot himself in the foot. the book i was reading was an unabridged copy of Melvilles' Moby Dick.
