Hey, would someone care to let those of us NOT in the area in on what is happening with the video shoot? I'm confuddled.
Metal Malcolm <metalmalcolm@hotmail.com>

a tour with My Ruin would be cool, but JOJ is no longer.. Jessicka is on to other things (not sure what, but I'm sure something cool..)
blah.

yeah i know depeche mode is doing a show at the roxy...but only kroq callers can go...i stayed up all night til' 5 to call attempting to win at every half hour..dammit i never win.

The Metrolink is pretty good transportation...How long is the video shoot gonna last? Cause maybe we can take the train down there but it'd be way hard getting back if the shoot takes a while. If we had a guaranteed ride back then the train is a good option. ::offers a kiss and money for a ride to the shoot::

Just read this on the DM site:DM TO DO REHEARSAL SHOW IN LOS ANGELES May 25th - Depeche Mode are planning a rehearsal show for the upcoming "Exciter Tour". The show will take place at The Roxy, in Los Angeles. Stay tuned for the date of the show. On May 29th, KROQ FM DJ's Kevin & Bean will be announcing more details.

Whoa....I got a nice lil' surprise in the mail today. I do promo stuff for Loudside and I got a bunch of cds called "The Hard Drive" and it has a bunch of songs on it from bands like Cold, Puddle of Mudd, PMM, and....the START!!! It has "Gorgeous" and "Glimmerman". I'm very happy cause I was one of the few that didn't burn the songs to cd. The only time I heard them was on the computer or LIVE. Now I can listen all the time. Weird timing.."Gorgeous" just came on. Also, I can pass them out and finally people can hear about this AMAZING band I'm always rambling about.

Awww man...I'm a little bummed they dropped off the Warped Tour. I really looked forward to seeing them on the sunny little island that hosts it in NYC...I mean nothing against Sugar Ray but there were tons of cool bands on the Warped Tour. But now I want to go way less lol. Oh well...Maybe there's still hope one day for them to tour with an awesome band like Blondie :) -Eric (who really doesn't merit having a PMM themed name while at the same time espewing the virtues of Blondie.)

I'm so excited for the video shoot!!!! Know what I think? I think some of the OC fans should arrange to go down there together. Like whoever can get a ride hooks people up. I though I'd be able to get a ride from my buddy Carlos but I think his band is on tour then. Like maybe Lex, Aldo, Ellen and whoever (and me of course) should try and figure this out. I can provide some gas money! Anyone that drives in the Anaheim/Orange/Tustin/Santa Ana/Costa Mesa area please help! And what time does this shoot start anyway? I need to know how many classes I need to ditch. Hehehe. Chris

TheSTART is one of the coolest bands ever! Among, of course Human Waste Project... So when my art teacher told us to pick someone (like an actor, singer or something) to draw, and then do a caricature of, I of course chose Aimee... Although drawing a caricature of her isn't the easiest thing in the world... Oh, and Aimee... one of the guys in my art class thinks you're hot *grins* Well... technically when he saw the picture I was drawing from in class he said "I'd have sex with her." o.O (Don't know why I'm mentioning... but yeah... Don't you feel special? *grins*)

Los Angeles rockers theStart, featuring former Snot member Jamie Miller on guitar, will take the stage prior to Kracker on the Sugar Ray tour. The band is supporting its debut album, Shakedown!, due July 24...................That's what MTV had to say!
Alexx <Medosa@home.com>
-
speaking of mtv....i just saw that mtv news segment thingy and it was talking about the sugar ray tour with uncle kracker and the host mentioned THESTART saying the tour would help generate success for their album called shakedown which will be released on july 24. I was so excited when I heard that. And to whoever said we should request on college radio stations, that is a good idea. I live near a university and i think there's a good chance they will play gorgeous :)
ellen <fiendfemme@hotmail.com>
Costa Mesa, ca -
Yay- my college radio only plays Phil Collins crap so I doubt they will be playing theSTART anytime soon but the college kids I am sure can hear it blasting from my car radio-- PS- am I the only one that finds the watermeleon attractive? Oh well- I am fine Erika- you?
ryan <heroelux@aol.com>
anaheim, ca USA -
theSTART's first single "Gorgeous" has officially been added to the playlists of the following major radio stations: KWOD/Sacramento, WMRQ/Hartford, WRRV/Newburgh, KXCS/Bryan TX, KMBY/Monterey, WRAX/Birmingham, WRZX/Indianapolis, KACV/Amarillo, KDGE/Dallas, KEDJ/Phoenix. If you are in these cities please request them as often as you can/wish ... the more you react the more the stations will play it. More radio stations to come soon... AND Congratulations to the boys and girl!!!

the best place for theSTART's music to get played, before moving to commercial "alternative" stations is college radio.. there are college stations listed at the street team website thing, but I'd say.. if you have a big college in your town or near you, call and ask if they have the CD. Most college stations will play requests. another idea: Be bold and ask to talk to one of the music directors. they are generally college kids who love music like we do, so if you can talk to them, ask them to check out the cd (or look for it in the mail if they don't have it yet).

in response to chris...it's weired if you think about it, but hey it's also incredable how a single band can make so many people come together. i remember that night when aimee said that thing about them rather going to see deftones. it was funny, but theSTART are my fav. band(w/orgy), so i would definitly go see theSTART, as i am. i already started, cause it's going to be my b-day and i refused free deftone tickets. so as you may see i am inlove with theSTART. also ryan how are you?????
erika <nadjaisagoddess@yahoo.com>

If I knew how to do that pirate radio I would be all over it-- anyone know how? I think theSTART, My Ruin, and Jack Off Jill need to do a tour together-- any other suggestions?
ryan <heroelux@aol.com>
anaheim, ca usa -
mtv2 is awesome, they play cool videos - and even if they're showing a crappy video, odds are always good that they'll play something decent after that... ok, all the new york-area theSTART fans, we're going to times square and we're going to the trl studio, right... and we're gonna hold up signs that say 'THESTART RULE!' 'MARRY ME JAMIE!' 'AIMEE IS GOD!' in between all the warring backstreet/'n sync fans. and we will get exposure... wait, that's crappy exposure. nevermind.
stefanie
-
it can be like that movie where christan slater has pirate radio or like that other movie where adam sandler and brendan f. and that other guy take over the station and bredans girlfriend had the only other copy of their music which she threw out the window and a dog peed on it...that would be cool...**cheers**

I think we need to go far beyond the signs around KROQ- I think we should just plain take it over and play good music- just like MTV, one of these days I'd like to see a video but no they have to taunt us with this MTV2 crap- blah blah- Then we can have time dedicated just for theSTART and it will be so popular it will be syndicated all over! wouldn't that be great? I thought so too-
ryan <heroelux@aol.com>
anaheim, ca usa -

i think i heard something to the like that every once in a while the radio people sita around a desk and decide from a list (the radio tool gave us this list i think) which bands to promote aka play. i think maybe the top people have the song but not the actuall stations. so i'm thinking that if we all hold signs around KROQ's office in hollywood (wherever) then they go to the meeting and say lets play theStart. that's an idea...anyone want to join? hang out in front of the KROQ offices and hold signs that say "Play theStarts *gorgeous*!" what do you all think?---I MADE SOME FLYERS I CAN DISTRIBUTE THEY SAY "REQUEST GORGEOUS NOW!" FUNNY I CAN'T EVEN REQUEST IT. DUNNO...SORRY ABOUT BEING NEGATIVE...AT LEAST I'M GETTING THE NAME OUT...PEOPLE WILL BE LIKE WHO ARE THESTART? THEN MAYBE THE RADIO PEOPLE WILL LISTEN**CHEERS**

I think I sent that last one twice. All apologies. I was just thinking..like you ever thought about how one incident or event changed your life ? Like if that had never happened you'd be a completely different person today? I know this isn't really life changing..but then maybe it is...Lex, what if Orgy had never played that show at the Galaxy almost 2 years ago? We probably would never have become such good friends...and we would never have met Erika (we met her in the line, I was making fun of people and she liked my hair) and we would never have seen theSTART(Hero at the time). Isn't that strange just to even think about that? Craziness. And if I wanna go back even farther, if I had never got into Deftones,I would never have left home to see them play in Hawaii and I wouldn't have gotten kicked out of my house and I wouldn't have moved to California. And not have gone to summer school and met Lex in the first place. Weird. Chris

yeah I remember learning in music business that radio stations only have about 12 songs to play for the whole day- they aren't really allowed to break from the playlist- they have some guy that tells everyone what to play across the country and they have to stick to that- there are exceptions- like if a radio station has an underground hour or something then they may get played, but we need to get a good buzz around the country which I hope this tour will do and Gorgeous will be everywhere- but yeah- that is why you only hear the same songs on the radio- requests lines are just polling you that is why they usually ask your age- thats another way they find out what to play- ok I'm done jabbering. Have fun people-

It's funny how K-ROQ is afraid to play new music (like theSTART) but yet aren't afraid to play the same music over and over again.the band thing about K-ROQ (and other rock radio stations) you already have to be famous for them to play your music...unless your music sounds like every other band they're playing. And now, they even play some rap too. I think K-ROQ has lost creditbilty and how I don't think they would be able to detect good music if it bit them on the a$$, so I say the hell with K-ROQ. *Professor_White*

KROQ are murderers!!! They play the same stuff over and over seriously and when they realize they're playing the same stuff over and over they throw in a song that you won't hear for another billion light years and go back to the same stuff. I've noticed that they only stick the "IT" Bands or Genre, too. They are afraid to experiment...LA Radio is horrible...

I just got an e-mail (that I deleted like a moron) that told me that theSTART are having a ticket presale beginning tomorrow (the 22nd) for the entire tour. It said that it will end on the 31st, then tickets will go on sale through Ticketmaster outlets. This is weird because I haven't heard anything of the sort from anywhere else. My only suggestion is to check it out, cause, if it is true, this could be a way to get great seats!

Any chance of comming to the UK. I saw Hwp at the ozzfest way back in 1998. You Guys(well amiee and scott) where great. if you do come You have to tour with One Minute Silence, who are this brilliant, raw and energetic mordern metal/hard rock band right here, from the UK. You might have heard of them. Thev'ye played with Slipknot/Incubus/BioHazard/Sepulutura/Machine Head/Sevendust ect, ass well as loads of other cool Uk and European bands. If you do come over, and chance of bringing The Oath and Asshole Parade? I want to see those guys aswell...ohh well, enough of this rudeness...see ya later...take care... Lewis

is it just me or is this board becoming one big turbulant ball of negative vibes? before it was people saying "come here, do this, do that" all the time and now that the band is doing a national tour someone's bitching about the other bands on the bill?? it's good to see the few of you who mostly look on the positive side of things. let's look at this for a minute. did anyone happen to see theSTART's name on any of the adds for the warped tour? not even in the teeny tiny writing at the bottom? didn't think so. do you think that they'd gain any notoriety from a handfull of warped tour dates with zero advertizing? not very much. do you think they should turn down the chance to play a national tour with their friends on a much smaller bill playing 2-6k seat venues? i hope not. look at it this way: the more popular the band becomes the more they're going to tour and the better your chances are to see them if you haven't already.

oh, deeply saddend am I! the sugar ray tour is coming nowhere near cincy, except for cleveland, but at that time i will be out of town! i haven't seen you guys since the coal chamber show at annies in cincy...aka the "meegs incident". it would be great if you guys came back to cincy soon, you have a lot of fans! but, shall i miss an op to see you in cincy in the near future, i will keep the positive in mind, knowing that once my boyfriend and i move to LA in the coming year, we will have countless ops to see you, which makes us both very happy! mike(boyfriend) says hi aimee, and thanx for hanging out after the troubador show may 8 while he was on vacation. he says hi to jamie too. I got your "he is drunk" napkin, thanx for writing down the album release date! we tried to email you, aimee, when he got back, but our computer has been expiriencing technical difficulties, so doubt you got it (i've typed this entry twice now)!! so anyway, hope to see you guys soon, and thanx for the inspiration aimee! luv you! **krysstii and mike** ps joined the street team, can't wait to get started!

Ricki - thanks...but usually even shows at smaller places example, Roseland ballroom , NYC for spineshank/disturbed and who ever else was there was about $43 withOUT ticket master charge. i dunno why shows cost so much now a days. I just hope the sugar ray show wont cost that much, i mean i'd pay it to see theSTART but im a broke 19yr old college student. Ryan, i got the new weezer, but its just not the same without the old bass player. He added something to the band that just kinda made weezer weezer. As far as that new band conversation that everyone is having..i really have not picked up anything too cool. ive been listening to sublime and the Descendents. i dont know why.

nat- the ticket's cost will depend on where they play...for example if they play fitzgeralds' here in houston (i hope i hope i hope) it will only be like $15, but if they play a bigger place like the aerial theater then it will be $25-30.

Hey everyone. Just something to start talk about. What are everyone's favourite NEW bands? Maybe they are totally, just formed bands, or maybe they are bands that you recently came across. Let's hear em. Mine would be: Hot Rod Circuit, theSTART (a given) and, uhm......damn, sad to say, but that's prolly it. I am not too inmpressed with music these days. I posted this so maybe I can find some new bands I would enjoy. Later to all and hope all the Moms on the board had a wonderful day! -Lexx

alex ~ well, you've pretty much hit the nail on the head. people don't really need to think for themselves anymore. we don't present our thoughts or ideas as thoughts or ideas because we can be wrong. we seem to think, however, that if we reduce everything down to mere opinions then we can get away with saying whatever we want. "it's just my opinion, i'm allowed to have one. fuck you for trying to tell me that i'm wrong. there's no such thing as a wrong opinion," which is total bullshit. if it comes from the mind of a human being, then it's fallible by nature.
maria ~ if things were that simple we'd all be living much happier lives.

You know, reading back over the little tensions from the past few days, I realized how that whole thing started: simply by someone not paying close attention. I don't know if this even concerns anyone else at all, but I began to think about it, and I haven't been able to stop. Does anyone else feel that people are becoming so...oblivious, these days? Like, it sounds stupid and cliche to say, but, when people just say the absolute FIRST thing that comes to their mind without even thinking about the consequences...or rather WHAT they are even saying....it blows my mind. It is a form of carelessness to me. It's like, these days, people can just go around and say comments about others, and expect a simple "don't take this the wrong way" or "I'm not trying to be mean" to make it alright to blurt out something, that they obviously know will cause shit to stirr! It not only amazes me, but it confuses me. I know I am jumping topics like a frog here, but that whole fight could have been so easily avoided by a simple explanation of the origin of the quote, and not the accusation that was made, even before the accused could get a word in to defend herself. Some people don't realize that the shit that was fought about on this board causes war in third world countries...Sorry this was so long, I felt like talking. -Lexx

i wont even dignify that whole argument concerning the influence of music with my own opinion...im just tired of that whole fucking mess. Here, in Dripping Springs, there was recently a clash of small-town southern baptist idealism wih the educational process of the public school. has anyone here ever read or heard of the novel a HANDMAIDEN'S TALE? this little book has stirred up more shit in this town than any singular thing in over a century. it's being taught to the advanced placement english class here (senior english) to all those who brought parent-signed forms allowing the student to be taught the material in and pertaining to the book. now...there are several families in dripping springs that are as old as the town itself, and want to keep the town the tiny little microcosm of conservatism that is always has been. but over the last decade there has been a vast flocking of families from the city to this town, bringing their kids, lifestyles, and ideas with them. several of the administration members at the school are these newer-to-dripping folk. when word of the book and its content reached the ears of a few ultra-fundamentalist parents, the shit hit the fan. complaints were fired at the only teacher involved with the book with haste and unheard of fury. the book was seen as some sort of horrendous threat to the "children" and the morals and values theyve been brought up with in this town their whole lives. several school board meetings have been held in the past months where eruptions of fiery arguments have filled the palates of most, parents and students, who have attended. the book has been called "pornographic", "of no significance", and my absolute favorite, "sinful". the rebuttals have included the kind of refutations that hit upon just how "insular and arrogant these people are". parents had left several board meetings in anger and frustration, both those who support and abhor the book. the teacher has been elevated to the level of an 'upstanding educator' by the more liberal folks, and then all the way down to 'peddler', because of the material these people seem to find extremely objectionable. the other night the committee formed to decided the fate of the HANDMAIDEN's TALE curriculum convened and ruled six to one. the book stays. several parents have either demanded for their students alternate assignments or have taken them out of school for the remainder of the year, drawing to a close in 9 days. when i first heard about this, i cracked up laughing and am still wondering just how this whole thing became so damned ugly and drawn out when there is one, simple incontrovertible fact: every student in that class is 18 years of age---old enough to smoke, see an R rated movie, buy porno, be tried as an adult, and easily the most important, VOTE......and yet, their parents just cant sit still when their english teacher begins to read to them from a book that was published so fucking long ago.........................

~Aimee, I idolize you soooo much it's incredable. There is no need to let the ignorant people get a hold of your beauty and destroy it. You are not the typical type of person to express herself so vulgerly...I have no right to say that but, from the many times that I have converced with you, you're the most adorable human on earth. I am so greatful to you for expressing yourself in your music. HWP(sorry) lyrics made so much of an impression on my life that I worship you, and always will. So please aimee forget what people say, there are always going to be some bunch of assholes trying to rip your life apart....but you have taught me how to over come them all. LOVE AND KISSES
erika <nadjaisagoddess@yahoo.com>

I think that if your going to do something that the thought was already there before the music. When were sad and listen to music to get us happy that happens because our natural place is to be as confortable as possible and that is a happy state and so it's easy to slip into happiness. To kill someone would take alot of energy to knock you off your natural place into that state of mind. I don't think that music is strong enough to put you into that place. To move you from your natural place and therefore the thought has to be there before hand. Happiness is always there even when were angry and music brings our happy self to the front. Killng and what not has to be there FIRST for music to bring it to the front. Music doesn't make you do anything, YOU do what you do. Your the one with the brain with your OWN thoughts. *does that make sense?* ***about the lyrics, a zillion songs have simular lyrics for the reason echo said, there are only so many words. Nothing is done purposely, lyricists don't even know they have simular words till other people point them out. If you were to read the lyrics of 30 whole albums, you'll find many simular phrases. not enough words in the english language. ***unless your total rip off bands like Bush, but that is obviously not going on here***

malcolm ~ i wasn't talking about back masking, so that wasn't quite the best example, but i get what you're trying to say. here's a good example: tool has lyrics like "i should play god and shoot you myself." somebody who listens to that could take it out of context and decide to blow someone away, saying that they were inspired to do so by tool's music. if that happened myriads of shocked tool fans would say that the killing had nothing to do with the music and the murderer already had the intent to kill someone before he heard that song. but if someone says that they were really depressed, maybe even "contemplating suicide," and that this one song opened their eyes and told them to live; we'd all be talking about how much music can make a difference and how wonderful and powerful it is. but whatever. nobody really gives a fuck apparantly.
echo ~ seemed to me that she thought you stole the poem from somebody, but the person who thought you ripped off p.j. was her friend or something. if she was all out attacking you she woulda been a little more vicious about it. granted, she's the dumb ass for not paying attention to the whole "author unknown" thing, but, if nothing else, at least you know who originally wrote it now. but i could very well be wrong.

~puke~
-
Additionally, the quote was never used as a song lyric. Like I said, I write my own lyrics.
ECHO
-
Hi and before you get accusatory let me set the record straight. I never claimed the quote was mine at all it does not say MY NAME after it The author of the quote was listed as unknown. this due to the fact it was told to me by my mother on a day when I was not at my happiest a day when I would have given up everything. I found it spoke to me the way no other words could have on that day, it gave me strength to carry on in this cursed wretched business. I tried to find the author but as I didn't have the quote right it was impossible so we left it as unknown. Thank you for letting us give credit where credit is due. As far as the accusation of me plagiarizing PJ harvey. Whoever is responsible for that can BACK right off. I do not PLAGIARIZE. You might compare the lyrics and double check. And so perhaps there are not enough words in the english language to address human emotions. You know what? IT is soooooo remarkably discouraging to come to our place our Board where our friends are and be attacked. I am not the one who rips people off.

I've been off line for a bit but I am back and can't wait for the record to be released!!!!I was on vacation and visiting my great aunt when I found something rather disturbing and i'm not sure if I should bring this up or not but it is really bothering me so here goes and please heretics do not be upset because this is a question I have for Aimee and maybe she can explain? There is this great little poem written on the site(I think it's also used in one of the songs?)and my friend and I got into a super bad fight over this.Aimee wrote..."THEY CALLED ME HERETIC AND FLOUT AND THEY DREW A CIRCLE TO KEEP ME OUT BUT WIT AND I HAD THE WILL TO WIN WE DREW A BIGGER CIRCLE AND LET THEM IN" the reason I am so upset is because my friend said that she heard some lyrics of Aimees from when she was in Human Waste Project that were the exact lyrics of PJ Harvey and even some that were almost too close to being the same as others of PJ Harveys and I said I didn't believe it. She quoted certain songs to me and it turned into a big stupid arguement.Anyway what my point is, is that I was reading this famous quotes and poems book at my aunts when I found this poem that looked really familiar so I copied it down and brought it home with me where I could get on line and I looked on this site and compared the poem to what is written above....the original reads "HE DREW A CIRCLE THAT SHUT ME OUT- HERETIC,REBEL, A THING TO FLOUT.BUT LOVE AND I HAD THE WIT TO WIN:WE DREW A CIRCLE THAT TOOK HIM IN!"(by EDWIN MARKHAM) I am sure you can see why I am wondering about this. My question to Aimee is why would you steal someone elses writing and change around the words and pretend it was yours? You are so talented and such a good writer that I don't understand this? I am NOT trying to be mean I am just scratching my head???????

Puke, my guess is that when we need cheering up, we are expected to do it. People can say that they blame the music for blowing up their school, but there must be something else underneath it all. For example, there was a trial blaming Judas Priest for murders because some kid had heard the message "Do It" backwards. Now even if they had heard that message, the fact that saying "Do It" in a message makes you want to kill suggests something fucked up. If Music gets you down, it gets you down. I can't deny that I sometimes put on stuff because I'm down and want something to console me, but it doesn't make me want to kill.

Whatever, it's been a weird night...

first off, wonderful show. mic stands all over the place but at least jamie's stayed where it was, for once. small crowd? you shoulda seen what it was like for the next band.
okay, here's what i dont get. music is so infulencial, right? if you're having a bad day you put on a song to make you feel better or an album can inspire you to do great things, but when a person says that they killed their parents because they were inspired by music they must by lying because music doesn't effect people like that? i mean, c'mon, if it can have a positive effect then it can surely have a negative effect. it depends on whether the music has a positive or negative message. if someone kills another person and blames the music then we say that they must have been fucked up before they heard that song. so why can't we say that you're manic if a song can make you happy? that you already were happy and hearing the song is the excuse to show it? and you can't say that it doesn't go both ways because it's two sides of the same coin. i dunno, what do you people think?

I as well agree with the members on the board....even though theSTART's cd isn't out(which sucks),i have noticed that the loyal fans know the lyrics and sing along to the wonderful music they produce. I for one know that theSTART has made a great impact on my life due to the fact that the members themselves are a bunch of sweet-hearts. I love how Aimee isnt scared to say what is on her mind which is great. For e.g. the song 'GORGEOUS' makes me relize that that is how i felt when i first saw HERO/theSTART....everything was wonderful and all i was able to do was speak about them and introduce them to my friends(promote the band basically).I can't wait till i do something with music and say that the main reason i'm in the buss. is because of ther insperation that theSTART and Orgy have given me(plus others).Thank you for reading my extremly long message and sorry for any misspelled words. LOVE AND KISSESS

Malcom, I totally agree with you. But what I think about more is...what kind of amazing human beings are these people who influence US? Like, I always wonder do different things go through their head on a normal daily basis than what goes through, say, my head? I mean, I would love to totally share all of my music with the world (and beyond) but, would I have the same effect on them as people who head the bands we talked of before? It amazes me the emotion some people can put simply into lyrics. I cannot even express that emotion physically. Some things just make me wonder...

I just read a post on the PSI site, and it really made me think of something..

Guys, have you ever actually sat down and realsied how great you are? I don't just mean that in a sycophantic manner, but I played a gig last night, and I was really suprised when people were telling me they liked my songs. I knew they were pretty good, but seeing them built up from the first few chords, I never really think of them in a "Song" kinda way. I just thought to myself, you guys, i'm sure sit and listen to Depeche Mode, NIN, The Cure and loads of other bands, and realise, as I do, what an amazing effect they've had on my life. Does it occicur to you that all over the world, there are people who have been seriously affected by Your music? Three bands, theSTART HWP and Snot, have all had a huge effect on my life, and i'm sure that all the people on this board feel the same. I don't know what else to say other than the obvious.

Thank you, so so so much.. :o)

its party of the lyrics from the "ive got a golden ticket" song from the movie Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. I found the complete lyrics for yah. LOL. DO I WIN SOMETHING?! I never thought my life could be Anything but catastrophe But suddenly I begin to see A bit of good luck for me 'Cause I've got a golden ticket I've got a golden twinkle in my eye I never had a chance to shine Never a happy song to sing But suddenly half the world is mine What an amazing thing 'Cause I've got a golden ticket It's ours, Charlie I've got a golden sun up in the sky I never thought I'd see the day When I would face the world and say Good morning, look at the sun I never thought that I would be Slap in the lap of luxury 'Cause I'd have said it couldn't be done But it can be done I never dreamed that I would climb Over the moon in ecstasy But nevertheless, it's there that I'm Shortly about to be 'Cause I've got a golden ticket I've got a golden chance to make my way And with a golden ticket, it's a golden day Good morning, look at the sun 'Cause I'd have said it couldn't be done But it can be done I never dreamed that I would climb Over the moon in ecstasy But nevertheless, it's there that I'm Shortly about to be 'Cause I've got a golden ticket 'Cause I've got a golden ticket I've got a golden chance to make my way And with a golden ticket, it's a golden day

For anyone in Nottingham, my gig tomorrow at the Union Bar. Please come! I'm gonna try and record it, so you can all have a listen..

On a lighter note, I have to ask a moral question. I have an insanely huge project, and I am gonna have incredible difficulty doing it. It's due wednesday. A friend of mine, doing the same project, has given me her's to read over, to check for her.

Two more things. One, have copies been sent to any UK stations? Can we harrass them? Or shall we stick with KROC?

And two, if anyone's in Nottingham on Monday, I have a gig. starting 7:30 in the University Union Bar. All welcome, it may be recorded.

Napster's wicked, but I only use it for listening to bands if I'm not quite sure whether I actually want to buy their stuff or not, or for previews like in this case. If the tracks are good then I go out and buy the Album, but if the tracks are crap then I haven't wasted my money (I'm a student - and I'm poor!). I will definately buy the album when it's out cos the tracks are fantastic and I also love artwork/sleaves etc.

RiCki <shinedownunshy@hotmail.com>
-
NAPSTER is a great tool for discovering new music that normally is unheard of. Now I will admit I do download music off Napster but I've bought just as many CDs now as I did before I got Napster. Remember outlets bands had to get their music out there (like radio stations and t.v.) aren't what they use to be. Now you already have too be famous to be played on the radio or MTV.It's getting harder to get your music out there to new fans and that is what Napster does. But like anything in life, there are always going to be people who are going to misuse technology.Just because a few people misuse Napster doesn't mean that Napster is all bad like Lars and record companies have made Napster to be. Technology is the future, embrace it or...fear it. *Professor_White*

Hey everyone. i have not been around in a while and when i come back i see that theSTART didnt get the depeche mode tour? Sorry guys! We tried. On the bright side now we can see you without having to pay an arm & a leg for tix (if you can even get them). Erika -- I just got my lip pierced on tuesday. What % alcohol is scope? Listerine is 21.6% so it may be stronger. You might concider using that. Also, bactine & dial soap on the outside, and glyoxide on the inside.

I agree with Alex, I've heard all of it apart from one song and I absolutely love it! "Her Song" is my favourite too =)
It's been worth waiting a year to hear it, I can't wait to get my hands on the pretty, glossy CD now! =D

Alright folks. Last night, I had the aswesome priveledge of hearing "Shakedown" in it's entirity, and I must say, it is my new favourite album of all time. Guys, you think you are waiting for a long time, but god damn, when the wait is over, it wont even matter to you. Wait until you hear these songs. For the people who have seen them live, "Her Song" is absolutely may favourite song ever. You will not believe how it sounds on the CD. It goes by so fast, yet you will not stop listening to it. "Time" is freakin outstanding. Well, I will stop making people jealous, which I know I am, and I'm sorry for doing it, but I just wanted to tell you all that is was damn worth the wait. Wow. -Alex

oh yes, poe is a solo artist.. i love her dearly and i'm glad she's on the tour.. but it sucks that so much work went into getting thestart on the tour and they lost out. still, they can still do their own tour, play smaller venues? more intimate? more fun? don't hurt poe!
stefanie

I'm with you!! *i'll bring the rope and gag* someone has got to bring the sack to throw her in.

ok so poe's on the tour.. i like poe, i really do.. i wish she'd have toured on her own actually, cos i don't want to have to see her from such a distance at madison square garden.. but hell maybe thestart will do their own tour? bleh. i have very mixed feelings about this.

Just listened to some songs off the beloved Nap**er (Don't worry I'm still gonna buy the album too!). Fuckin amazing!! Well worth the wait, congratulations to the band because you guys are fantastic. Shame about the DM slot - I bugged a load of people and message boards on your behalf for that but alas ... Keep up the good work (and Pleeze play Exeter Uk!!). Hell. x

use colloidal silver on all your piercings and tattoos. when your skin cells absorb silver on a molecular level it disinfecs the area and prevents all the nasty little things that can happen to your skin resulting from the procedure. it's completely natural and does lots more cool stuff that i can't remember.
the tour was badass, aside from the illness that plagued several band members (the portland show got cancelled coz aimee couldn't sing) and an altercation with a couple morons in northern california. i'd go into greater detail but it doesn't seem like anyone would care. let's just say it was hella tight.
unfortunately theSTART did not get the openeing spot for the depeche mode tour, the band poe came out of nowhere and snatched it up. you know, poe, that one band. think back like 5 years ago. they did that one song... yeah, them. so here's what we're gonna do. we kidnap poe right before they go on stage and have theSTART go out there instead. everyone would be so impressed that they'd demand that theSTART finish the rest of the tour. sound like a plan?

Well, mine did take a few months to heal properly...but my piercings always take longer than anyone elses, so I'm sure yours will heal quicker! The worst thing was not being able to eat any sugary things for ages, I remember the first large mocha (with 2 sugars!!) I had after just drinking water in coffee shops for ages...*drool* hehehe.
Yeah, I forgot about the anti-bacterial soap for the outside. Good plan. If it's sore to move, it just means that there's tiny bits of dirt on there somewhere, so get a cotton bud thing and clean it with salt water. Same as before, boiled & sea salt...!!! *waves stern finger* ;-)

Erika, use dial anti-bacterial soap for the outside side of the lip and around it to keep it clean, make sure its liquid form though.. and for the inside... I forgot what its called, but itcomes in a bottle kind of like eye drops and it can be used for lip piercings or tongue piercings.. Anyways, those are a couple pointers. later. with repsect,

erika - I have my lip pierced, and mine hurt like hell for quite a while! =\ It was worth it though!
Make sure you clean out your mouth with alcohol free mouthwash a couple of times a day. Also, after eating, and if you smoke, boil up about a cup full of water and add a teaspoon of sea-salt and wash your mouth out with that...I used to make that, and pour it into a bottle to bring out with me...

Ahhh...prom. Prom prom prom prom. This weekend, Dripping Springs High School, one of the many twisted little pockets of suburban infestation, the prom shall also be hosted. thousands of individual lives will be imprinted if not changed by the experience...FUUUUUUUUCCCCCKKKKK IIIITT! i will be at the video store that night for warm-up craziness, and then spend the rest of the evening involved in the Dripping Springs Founders Day celebration. The town is dead-still for 362 days out of the year, but annually belches out a three-day affair whereby a rusty parade of carnival rides rolls into the empty lot in the middle of this podunk town; the carnies will then proceed to occupy and soil the institutions of this place for three consecutive nights, while ensuring the safety of the hundreds of our children and intoxicated adults during the day. Yes...yes, i tell you, many many intoxicated adults. On tomorrow afternoon, Mercer street, DS's main avenue, will be blocked off and filled with fleets of fantastic, elaborate barbeque cookers and briscuit smokers. The beer will come FLOWING through the STREETS. The cook-offs begin...from approximately 4 o'clock tomorrow afternoon, right on through until the early morning hours of monday, this town will be one big fuckin' backwoods yeti stomp. ...and i will see this one through!

Hi all Chris is here...ditching class as usual..but decided to post anywayz. Bumming cause my prom date (who i asked in JANUARY) is ditching me for another girl...a JUNIOR!!I found out cause she's going around school telling everyone she's going with him. Yes... tears did flow from these orbs but I shall persevere and be strong for it's only prom. But it's important to me...I'm a senior...I've been listening to Depeche Mode ,that has helped a lot..and my burned START demo. So anyway the Chain show was amazing I danced the night away in a carefree way AND when me Ellen and Erika linked our arms and hearts to dance to "Gorgeous" I truly felt that we were all one (love). The bands doing well- we have a name now! Kickstart...and I didn't realize theSTART resemblance till yesterday hahah. We still need a bass player so if there are any girlz in the Orange area drop me a line. chris

First A gigantic thank you to all of you who made it to the last few shows. we are truly grateful ... the show in TEMPE was A blast, if on a smaller scale than we're accustomed to- the fence down the center of the stage and the tiny stage itself proved a challenge that pushed us to think of new ways to have a good time up there, but we made it and danced our @sses off! TUCSON has always been a great town to land in on tour because they have fantastic food (the GRILL as Puke mentioned before)We played at the Rialto which is a great venue. Fugazi haad played two days before us and I could still feel their presence when I stepped on the stage. Now that is inspiration. Tucson is 3000 feet above sea level so the air was a bit thinner than we're used to, my head spinning all day thru the night and I found myself out of breath much quicker than usual, once again a challenge that taught me how to adapt. Not surprisingly we were the only UNMETAL band of the evening and surprisingly we won over a pretty macho looking crowd! SAN BERNADINO- As for the technical difficulties they were not the fault of the bands rather the fault of the club's PA not working AT ALL. The entire show at Gotham was cancelled at the request of the club's promoter so that he might cut his losses in advance. All three bands, BOY HITS CAR, SIMON SAYS, and theSTART were of course very disappointed to miss an opportunity to play. Thanks to Erika (we love the painting!) Ryan and Tim for hanging around while we repacked our gear. ANAHEIM!!! I've always wanted to play the CHAIN REACTION because of it's truly independent SPIRIT. For me, and I think I can speak for the guys, this show was the most fun we've had onstage in a very long time, perhaps because we're getting our tour legs. It usually takes about a week but it's feeling really good already. It's great to be closer to our own neck of the woods as well as seeing all the familiar faces in front! SAN DIEGO- the show was at CANE's which is right on the beach. The first thing I did was take ENO out onto the sand. I wish I had Video so that you could fully grasp the hilarity of this three pound dog meeting the ocean for the first time! he played the tag you're it game with the tide a few times until finally he was overtaken by a quick little blast much to his dismay. But oh the expression on his face was priceless! I laughed and laughed and went inside to get my first dose of sexism in a long, long time. Mr. Security Guard apparently wasn't informed that these days women do more than stay home and cook his food for him. Yes Sir, I am IN THE BAND. No, not with the band. Oh, what instrument do I play? I don't play an instrument IN THE BAND. Oh I do assure you I am IN THE BAND. Regardless, the show went of without a hitch and A good time was had by all. SIMON SAYS and their crew are an exceptional group and some of the nicest guys I've met. We keep missing BOY HITS CAR because we have to leave fairly early due to the long drives. I hope to see them tomorrow as we play after them for the first time. YES I am very excited about playing LA again. WE look forward to seeing those of you who can make it. And we look forward to making it to those of you who can't... happiness to all people everywhere. and no we are not playing OZZFEST...

um, all the shows were bad ass. technical problems are something that can't be avoided 100 percent of the time. they happen to everyone, but good bands dont let it ruin the show. and theSTART are ... hmmm, let's see ... a good band. make up for the gotham show, eh? you mean like play more shows locally? like maybe a tour or something? sounds like a good idea. i'm sure they hadn't thought of that. as far as ozzfest, they aren't a part of it. they have better tours to be gunning for. cane's was terrific. wish i coulda seen more of you there.

theSTART arent playing Ozzfest? The person said they SAW Human Waste Project at Ozzfest a LONG TIME AGO. But I dont remember anyone saying theSTART are playing ozzfest. Cripes.

Damn, it sounds like all the shows were pretty bad.(sorry to hear that). Why is the band having so many technical difficulties? My friend went to Gotham(I was ill and couldn't make it sadly)but she was so bummed out that it was cancelled.I think they need to do something to make up for it soon(hint hint). What is this about the Ozzfest? The Start should not be a part of that because Aimee always says now that she is not into METAL and wasn't really ever into it even when she was in HWP.I think that would just be rather stupid. I think the Warped Tour is better for them to play. Let the metal bands have Ozzfest. There are too many bands that are into metal that should be on that anyway and The Start are totally different sounding than that. The Start should tour with PMM and Orgy. That would be cool. When can we see some new pictures on here? How can we order some band stuff?Does anyone know?

theSTART are on the lineup for the 2001 VANS WARPED TOUR... I started freakin when I read about it. I can't wait. They're supposed to play Ozzfest too?? Ozzfest doesn't come to Philly/Jersey till July, ... so maybe it's a beginning of the tour thing...

I saw Human Waste Project when they played Ozzfest. After that I had to get the album. I did not realise that the record company had dropped them and I had a hell of a job getting the album. It was the most amazing fucking thing I had heard in years. What twat decided to drop this band. I have since played this album for friends (all of whom are unable to buy it). I am looking forward to theSTART album and hope it will be half as good.

okay, this might be a little lengthy ... wilde is a movie about oscar wilde, the famous homosexual author. boy hits car aren't playing all the dates but they're playing a lot of them. i really dont know which one's they're playing and which one's they aren't at the moment. i doubt i ever will. now on to the past three shows ... thursday: the big fish pub is stuck at the ass end of a mini mall in phoenix arizona, somewhere down the way from asu. the stage is about the size of three pool tables pushed together but not as high. for those of you who have been to the showcase theater in corona, it's even smaller than that. no stairs and no balcony, with a seven foot tall black fence segregating the legal drinkers from the rest of the audience. with everyone's equipment on the stage each band member had about two or three feet between one another and they still blew the roof off that bastard like i've never seen. there were constant audio difficulties but what else is new. friday: the rialto theatre in tempe arizona is much larger. the stage is the size of a movie screen (possibly because it used to be a movie theater) and provided for a more mobile performance. somewhere during melt (i think) a mosh pit broke out. it was started by some members of another band that also played that nite and a couple people from the audience joined in too. jamie cut his finger open during the set, spraying a fair amount of blood onto his guitar. it was totally metal. by the way, if any of you are in tucsan some day and you're really hungry go to this place called the grill. they rule. saturday: this show didn't quite get off the ground. the p.a. people the club (gotham in san bernadino) hired for the nite had great sounding equipment but a less-than professional crew. after battling with the mixing board for what seemed like hours the show was eventually cancelled. props to everyone who made it out there, though. so the next event is obviously the infamous chain reaction show on monday. the band goes on early ... like seven o-clock or something. 461 on the petition so far. we're kicking ass! let's keep it up. go heretics!!

I love The Start. I can't wait for the L.A. show. Has anyone here ever heard of a band called My Ruin?My friend just played me a record she bought online called A Prayer Under Pressure of Violent Anguish and it rocks. She told me that the singer was a good friend of Amy Echo? I think it would be so fun to see them play together sometime but until then I plan on going to The Start show in April at the Whisky and then to the My Ruin show in May at the Whisky. It will be my first My Ruin show and I am really excited. Will anyone from the board be going to either? Shakedown! xoxo suzi

do my classmates have no taste? are they nothing more than swine? or am i the only one who loves fitzgerald to death? i read gatsby in the 6th grade, but these damned high school kids cant turn past the first page without bumrushing the sparknotes page. this...this is a travesty. and now, their going to arbitrarily shove hemingway down our throats. if there is any literary figure in history i'd want to meet, it would be hemingway, so i could punch the bastard in the face.
