HERO'S WELCOME We were introduced to that company by [Orgy/Coal Chamber producer] Josh Abraham, says Echo. The Corrs are also on the roster, and they're doing amazingly! Hero - Aimee, guitarist Mike Smith, bassist Jamie Miller (who previously played drums in Snot) and drummer Scott Ellis (ex-HWP) - are currently in pre-production, and plan to record their debut album very shortly, with an eye to an early-2000 release. We have the majority of songs written for the record. Well, that's what we think now, but in the time we have left before we start recording it might be different! laughs Echo. This band is a lot more melodic than HWP; we really concentrate on songwriting. In HWP, we used to do a lot of experimentation, going off on tangents and writing whatever we wanted. When you're a young band, that's what you do. But with Hero forget everything you think you know, and don't expect what you think you're going to expect! Not surprisingly, Hero's first album will be produced by Abraham. Josh has had faith in me from day one, Echo explains. What Hero became was sort of an idea that Josh and I had talked about two years before. He told me, 'I love you and I wish your band well, but you should do this, it's more in line with what you are.' In HWP, I wasn't getting enough balance, she adds. I felt we were heavy for the sake of being heavy. Heaviness doesn't need to be about hard, crunching guitars and pounding drums; sometimes it can just be music that makes you feel, that forces you to move - you have absolutely no choice.
