CBGB's New York

IN A perfect world, the LA
quartet fronted by feisty former
Human Waste Project Chanteuse
Aimee Echo would be massive,
and the reason is is this : they've got
gargantuan fists-in the-air sing-
alongs like 'Shakedown!' and
'Gorgeous', they've got
the
grooves, the beats, the riffs, and
the melodies, but most of all , they
have the perfect frontwoman in
the shape of Aimee Echo, who
you can't help falling in love with
whoever you are: the boys want
her and the girls want to be her.
Its that simple.
Tonight theSTARt are playing
perhaps the grimiest venue in the
city - the horrible legendary punk
locale CBGB's. Their set is
ridiculously short. None of this
matters, because for 30- odd
minutes Echo and Chums get you
dancing, smiling and singing along
like no-one else around, with their
sassy and joy fueled, dancey
and poptastic rcok, ending with Aimee
slyly dedicating New number 'Dead
End Queen' to "My favourite
Dead End Queen:George W.
Bush, because he dresses like a
vampire and doesn't mean to hurt
anyone... but he does"
Someone bring these guys
(and gal) over to Britain. You
need theSTART in your
miserable lives.
